'05 TSX rear 6x9's...replace with 6.5" JL 6W0 subwoofer????

I just noticed JL makes a tiny 6.5" subwoofer called JL 6W0. Anyone ever swapped this into their 6x9's in their TSX's on the rear deck?

also, these subs are 4ohms or 8 ohms and require about 30 watts of power minimum.... The acura tsx sound system is 360 watts / 8 speakers = 45 watts each...i think that should be adequate?

here's this link to JL's 6W0 subwoofer:

You would probably have to do the gas shock replacement to fit those bad boys in there. The stock in no way shape or form would ever in its life have enough power for those things though. Thats for sure! Have you ever seen it? It's the size of 2 8 track tapes stacked together.

6wo are not designed for free air (infinite baffle). All jl subs are now designed for sealed and vented boxes. contact jl before trying . if i remember correctly, i read an article where jl said their xr650mb was better suited for infinite baffle. being a 6.5", they will require a very small box, so how about a small sealed box on the floor in front of the driver and passenger seats. if you want a 6.5" driver that is sub and is designed for infinite baffle, check out the 700 from edesignaudio. cheap too. jps

ooh... ... my bad...haha.. just thought i asked about it since nobody brought it up...they do look a little monstrous...but i thought since they were 6.5"...they'd clear the 6x9 hole...anyways, i guess i'll stick with buying a 10W7 today then.....

thanks man...

i'd like to see a custom job that you cut the whole goddamn rear deck out and make a custom sub enclosure, that'd be sick

I thought about running a pair of those eu-700's from ed. Has anybody tried them yet in a TSX?

Yeah, just to clarify, the stock sytem is probably only 45w "peak" wattage. It is probably closer to 18w RMS (which is how the aftermarket amps are usually rated).

If you want to stick with the stock amp, you'll have to just get a pair of 6x9's which is better suited for low power and yet as low frequencies as you can get away with. And it still won't be as loud or low as an amplified sub, but it may be good enough for many of us.

I have a set I'll sell below retail - never been used, still in box. Didn't fit the application.

Not in a TSX, but I have done ED 6" subs, and JL 6w0s in new GTOs and they sound AWESOME! Need a least .25 cubes to work well.

Would they sound better than RCE-269s?
