TL: 03 CD changer in 2000 TL Navi - BLITZ kit?
03 CD changer in 2000 TL Navi - BLITZ kit?
So here's a wonder...
I want to get a blitz kit in my 00 TLP Navi - the one that works on out factor single disc unit, only allows you to play the ipod, using the ipod to control the songs.
If I recall correctly, the blitz kit that works on the 02-03 CD Changer, allows the driver to switch songs on the ipod, using the audio controls on the wheel.
Can someone confirm that?
So heres my question - hope someone knows - Can I replace my junk, none burnt CD playin, heap of a head unit - with one from an 02-03 Navi TL, and then get the good blitz and have it function correctly and change songs from my wheel controls?
Any feedback is appreciated!!!
Thanks~

I thought the Blitzsafe units did not allow you to use the steering wheel controls to advance to the next song.
I installed a 2003-2003 TL head unit in my 1999 TL and, at the same time, I installed a Blitzsafe adapter. My particular Blitzsafe model, HON/AUX DMX V.1, does not have the iPod specific connector. I hooked it up with an RCA to 3.5 mm plug cable.
There are other brands of iPod interfaces that will allow you to use the steering wheel control. I don't recall the specific models but a forum search should turn it up.
But, before you install a 2002-2003 head unit, you might want to consider if you'll even use the ability to play burned CDs. Ever since I hooked up my iPod I hardly ever use my CD player. In retrospect, I could have just installed the Blitzsafe adapter in my 1999 head unit.

My biggest thing is the steering controls... I read you simply cant do it on the single cd unit from the 99-00 but that the 02-03 changer would take the adapter that can.
I was hoping to find someone who had done so and could confirm for sure before I went and blew the $3-400 on the pair.
Supposedly this is the one that will do it:
Blitzsafe HON/M-Link1 DMX V.1 Acura/Honda iPod Adapter

So - the USA-SPEC is the shit! Well, mostly...
I hooked it up to my single disc to try it out - it works great! Steering controls work too! Two drawbacks: the button on the hu to move backwards in the tracks doesn't work all that well, it studders and is finicky to actually get to the previous track. 2nd - when you turn your car off - it pauses the ipod, and charges it for a while, but when you go to trun your car back on, it doesn't start playing where you left off on its own...You have to manually press play on the ipod again. Not a big deal - but thought Id mention.
Over all - get this puppy! USA-Spec PA11-HON - well worth the money!
