I recently purchased a navi update 2012 black dvd from www.acuranavi.com. i followed directions to install the new verision. upon installing it,I got a blank screen then followed by unformatted disk message. I installed the original disk back in and it work normal. I tried serval times and even resetted the battery to see if it worked,nothing. I returned the navi disk to navteq and received a new replacement. I tried installing it, nothing work. The screen was black. I also resetted the navi and still nothing. I put the original disk back in and it worked fine. Could the dvd rom unit it self could be bad? I also checked the wiring and everything is ok. Anybody have any ideas of why its not working? Any help would be appreciated.

Hopefully you will get it solved soon coz this forum contains a lot of geniuses. What version is your previous dvd? I want to buy your old disk if you successfully updated to 2.90. PM me when you are successfully done.

I just picked up a 2001 CL Type-S with Navigation. I liked the Nav unit so I ordered the new 2012 update disk. I installed it today and ran into the same issues you mentioned. I tried various combinations of inserting, ejecting, power on and off. Eventually I got it to take and got it updated. I wish I could tell you the exact combination that works but I can say that after about an hour I was driving through my neighborhood on streets rather than a blank screen. Good luck.

 

I just updated to the 2012 maps in my 2003 CL (black disc) without any issues at all. I am relieved to know it is possible. Good luck.

 

What was your previous version of dvd?

 

The question wasn't directed at me but I upgraded my 01 CL Navigation from V1.09 to 2.90

 

You may need a disc that updates the bios before being able to run the newer discs. Usually it updates graphics etc. Call/email the navteq people and let the know if there's anything extra you need to do before going from your current version to the newest one you have.
