*Attention Hard Disk Drive Navi Owners*
For all of us that have the Hard Drive Navigation and travel a lot with your TL's the drill is you have to visit your dealership everytime to get the specific region you are entering. Some dealerships charge between $50-65 to do this.
I set up an FTP Server so we can share our regions to avoid paying the royalty fees.
Its real easy to do, all you have to do is pm me and I can set you up with a login and password and you can pick up the region. Please be willing to add your region to my server before taking one. All you need is a laptop to do this. If your having trouble let me know.

Sounds like a really great idea. However, since I just purchased my 99 TL two weeks ago, I have no idea how this works. Do I need to have multiple hard drives for my system and then just change drives when I get to a different coverage zone? Or do I just simply overwrite the drive that I have now? I'm familiar with how ftp works to get the maps, I just don't know enough about the Navi system to update it myself.

Laptops have the standard PCMCIA Slots that read our PCMCIA Type III hardrives. You just plug
it in and copy the files. You can use the same drive for different regions just wipe it out
and load the new regions files. If your traveling you you can just pull over and with using your
laptop just load the new region. Yes please share your region.

I just got my car a couple weeks ago and pulled the hard drive out today. The files are all dated 1998, so I'm assuming my maps are a little old. However, if anyone wants a copy of the north east region, let me know - that's MA, NH, RI, CT, Eastern NY and Northern NJ. Is that FTP server up and running yet? If so, I'll upload what I have when I get home tonight.

We can do the Ftp tonight. I'm sure there is a newer version out but something is better that nothing. Hopefully we can get more people to add their region to my server and you can get an updated version.

Hey, I'm new to this site but would love to share something. I've got the southern region, (the one with Texas). I would like to get a hold of the one with Florida. Just email me and let me know what to do.

Just a note, you can go on ebay and buy calluna type III pcmcia harddrives and they work great (520MB) in any HD Navi system. Also, I bought a DVD navi from a 2001 and directly plugged it in to my 99 TL, replacing the HDD Navi

I bought it off ebay, Acura's website says you can't upgrade because the systems are incompatible, but I went to the dealership, looked in one of their 2003 TL's and it was the same connections. So I bought one, took out 4 screws and 4 plugs and plugged it in, and it works great!!

is this possible?
I have a 99 TL with the Navi harddrive unit, but my wife got t-boned in my 2001 rl with the dvd navi unit. The dvd unit has been faster in loading and easier in changing regions.
So my question is since i saved the dvd unit, can i swap the units out?
Anybody have a clue?
