Factory Deck, Polk Components

Here are some rear door shots:

Front with A pillar tweeters

Door mounted crossovers

Finally with the tweeters on the door mirror access covers. Look OK, I think.

I'm still working on the installation. I'm going simple with this car, so no fiberglass enclosures under the dash. Last weekend I did the big 3 and got all the wiring ran. The next step will be to build the amp mounting board and install the amps. Then I will install the head unit and mount the front speakers. And finally I will build the sub enclosure.

Here's the equipment I'm putting in:

Head unit: Eclipse 7200mkII
Front speaker amp: Diamond Audio D3 400.2
Sub amp: Arc Audio 1200dr
Front Speakers: custom set using an Mpyre Audio mid and ADI tweeter
Subwoofer: Adire Audio 10" Tumult completely assembled by me

All I have pictures of thus far is the custom front speaker set. It's going to be interesting to get that midrange in the doors. They have a 3" mounting depth.

Ok, I finally got more of my stereo installed including building a simple amp rack, installing the component speakers, and getting the head unit installed.

First is the under-hood wiring. You will see that I upgraded the big three.

Next was the CD player install

And then the quick amp rack I built

And finally the custom component speakers. The midrange required a 1" thick MDF ring and 3 layers of sound dampening material to get it to clear the window. I also had to cut away quite a bit of the door panel to get it to fit. The incredible midbass capabilities of that speaker made it well worth the trouble. For the tweeter I removed the speaker grill from the door, cut a hole and rear-mounted the tweeter, put on some new grill cloth and re-attached the assembly to the door panel. As you will see, the result is a completely stock look.

Eventually I will get back in there and add more sound dampening material to the doors. I will then also build an enclosure for my sub so I can get the rest of the last octave. I will say that the stereo sounds incredible. I highly doubt there is a 2-way speaker system available that can match the low frequency extention that this set has, and definitely not with as low distortion or flat frequency response.

Mine is just getting started.

Pioneer AVIC F90BT

Boyo back-up camera

Infinity Reference 6.5" door speakers

Still need to install Infinity Reference 6x9's. Not sure if they'll fit without hitting the trunk springs.
