04 navigation upgrade to 07-08 nav with video and AUX pics..
i would try to address any question you have and please forgive my english which is not my native language.
I have deal with Martin in NJ before and he have installed my 04 navigation. After i was satisfy with my nav i went back to him and we did the backup camera which we did it using a video converted from a MDX 03, he modify the hardness to work with regular 04 nav main board.
After reading and seeing the interface in the 07-08 navigation and much better looking it was with some xtra future i decided to ask him if he would exchange my 04 to 07-08. Well he agree and gave me a quote which was pocket change since he rebought the mdx video converted since it wasn't needed anymore.
The main 07-08 dvd board has the video converted built into the drive so the backup camera is connected in the drive. we also did the AUX and Video input and i really like how he did it because the installation look so oem clean.
before i post the picture i would like to point the different between the 04-06 navi to 07-08 navi since i had both, a few things you might not know.
1) The 07-08 navi is a much higher (better) resolution screen (04-06 screen won't work, it need to be replace aswell)
2) Navigation map look much crisper due to the higher res screen, you don't get those low res lines. everything seens just right, you can now change map colors to blue, white (my favorite) black and some other color.
3) Radio theme has been redon and looks much sharper
4) you get alot more menus now, the sound equalize theme has been redon and look so much better now.
apart from other things about getting traffic, having phonebook option which you can view all your contact from the screen and select which one to call. There's alot of other different but i did not want to bore you with it.
so far i'm very satisfy and since it was almost a free exchange i'm much happier. one last thing, the aux i connected it with my RF 3sixty.1 since i had all the connection with it in the front. the Video input is a switch which switches to the input when you wish.

yes everything is plug and play, bluetooth, HLF, subdisplay, GPS, Harness. He only had to modify one of the harness pins behind the new monitor screen. even the 07-08 drives were plug and play with the 04 harness. The screen 04 WILL work since is a screen, but having a low resolution everything would look out of place and fuzzy so do it right with a 07-08 screen.

I take it that you have the white navigation disk now?

This is what he charge me but he can change his prices at anytime.
$300 for the exchange (including the video, AUX, plugs part and labor)
Now giving my MDX converted back i was credit $150 so the total was $150. Plus he gives 6 month warranty on all the parts he install.

Wait maybe im confused but your saying someone with a 04-06 NAV only needs to replace the DVD drive and screen to have all the functionality of the of the 07-08 navi?? It looks like you started with no navi at all then had the 04-06 navi installed then switched to this setup right? Are sure nothing else was done? I'm probably going to go the carpc route but this is interesting. Would "Martin" Source the parts for like 200 no install?

like i said, he gave me a quote i guess because he did my installation 04 navi first which i paid him around $1600 for the completed 04 navigation. When back to him and did the backup camera which i had to pay more. i'm not sure if he quote me low because i have spend alot of money for him but my best bet is to email him and ask him how much would they charge you to switch from a 04-06 to 07 08 conversation. yes he only had to switch the screen and the main dvd drive with teh white disk, everything else works. all hardness plug in except for the one on the screen which he had to modify the pins only. It only took him about 2 hours to do with the video and audio aux switch and everything.

Where did you find the 26P conector and how did you manage to change the Terrestrial antenna plug? Could you give me the wiring diagram plz??? laurent_ger_frig@hotmail.com

well i know the 07-08 radio has aux and playback but you have to replace the radio in order to do it oem. He kept the same 04 radio and created a bypass switch in the arm rest (u can see it in one of the pics) and i can have aux video out and also u can have video input in the screen. The aux i have it connected with a RF 3sixty.1 but if you have a ipod adapter you can run the Aux to it.

he would sell you the navi parts has well and ship it to you. I Don't know which 26p connector are you talking but like i said the only connecter that he modified was the a big one behind the screen and he switch the pins around to make the screen work. everything works fine the atenna, xm, navi, gps, audio, touch screens, buttons.

Eduardmc, what device did you use for the video input and aux? Nav2go or Dom's. Also what device are you using for sound? Where is the switch you are using? Is the Nav Traffic working and HFL for 07 to 08? Sorry if I asked too many questions.

This navigation unlike 04-06, gives out street names, "turn right on to great neck rd"

Martin does not carry the harness. when he do the installation of a 04-06 tl, with a 07-08 he doesnn't bother switching HLF because of this reason.
