Weather Alert - Disable?
I recently acquired a 2012 Acura RL Tech
Is there a way to turn off the constant and annoying weather alerts that appear on the Nav screen as an overlay? It is a real distraction, especially when depending on the Nav system in cities like DC.
Thanks!

We don't have many MMC RLs here and the 2012 is a rare site no matter where you are. I think they sold less than 400. I have never heard of this feature, but it is surely documented in the navigation manual.

I think the live weather update feature was added to the 2011 MY. I spoke with Acura customer service last night. They are puzzled too, but said they would research and call me back.
The owners manual and navi manuals are poorly written for the 2011 and 2012 RL's. It is readily apparent when Acura made updates for the 2011 MY, revisions to the owners manual were given very little attention and resources (I had a 2006 RL CMBS...manuals were much better).
I had same frustrations trying to figure out how to Sync driver and pass temperature control. The manual is written in such an ambiguous way that even Acura customer service reps were stumped as their resource is also the poorly written owners manual.
Small issues though. I love the RL, the last of the Japanese tanks. I had a new Acura TLX A-spec V6 for 2 days and really dis-liked the TLX. Very cheap feel, non-intuitive tech, and not very inspiring to drive. And that push button transmission was more maddening than the pushbutton trans in my buddies's wife's new Lincoln MKc.

I called Acura customer service twice. They only know what the owners manual says. They said they would call back....of course no one has. With our bad weather, that damn message keeps appearing! Very annoying while trying to traverse roads and traffic inside of DC.
I love the 2012 RL, but Acura customer service is a great mirror reflection of this brand's demise from an almost luxury car line years ago, to nothing more than another Ford, GM, or Kia commodity car brand. When I owned a new 2003 CL-S and had Navi issues, they had the vendor contact me direct and had near immediate root cause and resolution. Today you cannot even get an Acura C/S rep to even make an effort to make a follow-up phone call.
Lets hope the new CEO restores Honda to its' glory days before the Acura brand goes the way of Mercury, Oldsmobile, and Plymouth.
