Is fog or moisture a common factor? I ask because the bright yellow bulbs will be better suited for that environment.

For standard white halogens, I have used OSRAM Nightbreakers with reasonable satisfaction. I believe they are better than Sylvania's best halogen. Upon installation, you may not be wowed by the difference, but after a hundred hours, the improvement is noticable, especially in a high beam. I haven't used the Phillips halogens (they make good HID), but I always hear good reviews about the PIAA Xtreme White and Yellow bulbs.

I put them in the low beams on my wife's 07 Impala, I liked them better than Silverstars but they weren't anything special, they lasted about 2 years and were also cheaper than Silverstars.
