With the advent of IE9, the little white AZ on monotone blue background icon looks decidedly archaic. How about a spruced up icon that reflects the sophistication of Acurazine a bit better in my taskbar?



Something that wouldn't look out of place on an iPad would be ideal.

and personally the fewer graphic intensive icons sent the better, little shit like that adds up to slower loading and such (especially if done enough times)

 

It'd be no more "graphic intensive" than the current one. Just better looking.

Who uses IE?

 

I do, for one. Along with Safari and Firefox depending on where I am and what computer I'm on. IE isn't the only browser that uses the icon.

Im on Chrome and the icon is on the tab, but it doesnt bother me.

Yup, looks nice. The gradient is subtle but classy. Mine's a bit different but the same idea.

An .ico file contains multiple sizes of the icon.

What font did you use for the AZ there?

 

Consolas, its not the exact font im sure but i dont think it would be hard to find with some effort and the WTF font analyzer

the proper font is arial narrow. the first half should be bold and ital. the second is just ital.

It is using a shade of orange from the AZ logo.

 

As good as these icons look at these sizes, the issue is that when you shrink them down to the size that is displayed in the location bar for the favicon, it makes it nearly unreadable.

My suggestion would be to stick with what we have, but simply change the blue to orange. :twocents:

 

sly- thats why you create one in the correct size not to mention the "AZ" is smaller in our current one.

 

I was trying to get at the point that with an image that small, there isn't much detail you can add, especially when it comes to text because it makes it hard to read. So no matter how much spiffier you want the icon to be, it isn't going to be that much more spiffier.

I still feel keeping it the same as to what we have now and changing the background to orange is adequate. That's just my viewpoint, not saying that's how it will be.
