NOVA/MD/DC Area 2nd Annual Winter Meet

Ahh yeah,

For the few brave souls who showed up last year in the snow, this year we hope not to have a repeat. Time for another winter meet, and this one should take place somewhere with a garage.

Saturday January 18, 2003 is the date - MLK Birthday weekend.

Location - TBD. Why? I want feedback from everyone selling me the idea of which spot to show up at this time. Last year was at Arundel Mills Mall, lets try someplace else.

Time - Contingent upon the location, but lets shoot for a 12pm time which should get everyone set for a good lunch and show of our cars.

Holla back with your ideas - they are always welcome!

I'll be wherever, weather permitting. No location preference in the B'more/DC metro area. Tell me where, I'll be there.

Learn a little

Think someone can explain how we can change our own oil and filter at the meet? I'd like to start learning a little about the mechanics of the car and would rather be walked through it, the first time.

I'm sure each car is similar, but not exactly the same... I'd appreciate it if someone can show me where the filter is, how to remove and replace it, and so on...

Maybe at the meet would be a good time? I've never been to one..

Thanks, EllioT

College Park Sounds Fine.
Is there covered parking?
Any other place to eat than Taco Bell?
If it snows, any good parking lots to slide around in?

I'll try to be there if I can...

I'm in.

Other than in the campus, there aren't really any other good parking lots big enough or covered in the college park area. I'm not sure how the campus would react to everyone meeting in one of the lots either.

Is this meet restricted to the NOVA/MD/DC inhabitants, or can someone from SoCen PA show up? Oh, and there used to be a good make-your-own pizza place on Route 1 somewhere around the Best Western - on the other side of the street - if memory serves. Probably not a big enuf parking lot thou. It's been a while since I've had to deal with route 1.

Doesn't sound like a location is set yet. Arundel Mills Mall is such a huge place we can stay in a far corner and we shouldn't be bothered. Lakeforest Mall in G'burg has a pretty large parking lot also. Forget Montgomery Mall, security there very quickly tells you to leave. Forget College Park unless you're talking U Md campus lots.

Honda-Tech had a meet over at Reston Town Center on the 28th of Dec. Their loud exhausts brought unwanted attention to the top deck of an empty 7 story parking garage. Forget Potomac Mill Mall. Although huge parking lots, the mixing bowl is a major F'ing hassle.

I think since it is a winter meet and could be raining/snowing we should pick a place with a restraunt or food court that we can go to to get out of the cold and eat. That way if we all park and hang for a bit we can tell the security that we're waiting for others to show so we can all eat together or go to a movie etc.

I think if this is going to be a ACL.com primary meet we won't have much of a problem cause most of us know how to act. If we start inviting a lot of clubs to make a huge meet then it can get out of hand.

Depends on what you are looking to do. I think Dulles, Arundel, College Park (?), Rockville or whatever have great potential for a group of people to chat and then go eat.

What about the Rockville area near Starbucks/Sport Authority? Big open lot and security would not be a hassle. In case of bad weather there are a lot of nearby shops/restaurants and there is a multi-level covered garage adjacent to the lot.

Well Montrose Crossing does have a garage and nonagressive security but eating facilities within walking distance is limited (Tara Thai, period). A short drive does open up all sorts of eating (Champions Sports Pub, Chipolte, Bamboo Buffet, Hooters etc.).

Really need to get this nailed down. Being a Legend guy, a CL type should make the final call.

OK, Here's the deal.

I say we meet at last years spot.

Arundel Mills Mall at 12 noon. Park in the lot across from the Mc Donalds and we should be fine. I am sorry about the location, but Saturdays is a busy shopping day so we have to find a spot that will accomodate us. They have a food court and a nice restaurant we ate at last time. they also have Jillians, which would serve us well if we needed to get rowdy.

I would love to have it in a garaged facility, but we'll just manage, we did last year!

Anyone else want to help with the organization of this meet?

Any other suggestions?

Should we make this an isolated Acura meet?

Feedback is greatly appreciated.

I found a nice spot in southern Orlando.

Very nice! Warm! Palm Trees . . .

OK, back to reality.

Any where is fine for me!

Let's just decide!!!!!!

I vote for Arundel Mills Mall.

Arundel Mills it is. Any Montgomery county folks want to caravan up?

As far as other ideas, how about makeing it a "big bodied" Acura meet. CLs, TLs, Legends, hey even Vigors. That way we can see more cars, get other ideas yet not be so huge as to draw unwanted attention.

I'll bring some name tags so we know who is who.

sounds good to me...the 18, noon @ Arundel Mills across from McDonalds.

another suggestion...when i had my prelude and they had a meet up there, they met over by the chili's entrance...down near the street. usually it's not many car park down there...plus that way everyone will see the rides when they ride by and then i believe everyone from the meet just walk into the food court from there and got something to eat

Do a mapquest search cooljoe for 7000 Arundel Mills Circle (Arundel Mills Mall) in Hanover, MD--it's what I did, I've never been before.

Rick: Sounds good, I thought for some reason you lived in DC. But that would be great. We could meet at Rosenthal along with anyone else including Dave C. I'll go weather permitting. We'll pick a time when it gets closer. Thanks
