Here are some pics (not the greatest quality) from the guy taking pics with a normal camera (not digi). I got his email address and this is what he sent over. There are some TL and IS 300 pics too.

http://albums.photopoint.com/j/Album...a=13167770&f=0

Enjoy!

Not everyone! I'm still at stock height and I think I'm gonna stay that way. I'm getting sways for handling and the only lowering i'll do is the H&R's that lower only an inch or so. The Miami guys are the ones who are slamming their cars.

I'm ready to get the sways already. I've been sold on them. If I don't like them, I'll take em off and sell them here for a little less than what I'm paying for them and get springs. I don't want to look 'not stock' so I can blow the doors off unsuspecting mustangs.

The sways help. I tried them with the same idea -- toss them if they didn't work. They help the "sway" in steady state turns and help tighten the cars in transient maneuvers.

i do believe sways help. .but to a degree. .
i just think for 330 bucks -- since they've raised their price, i don't know why -- the cost/benefit analysis shows you get more for your money?

even the strut bar would be great option. .neuspeed? for 100 bucks seems like a no brainer. i want to check his ride out before i purchase them tho.

but the sways do help. you'll like them.

Would you (or anyone else) care to elaborate on what the sway bars do versus the strut bar? And the advantage of having both?

i don't have sways... but i must say that for $100... the strut bar is seriously a no brainer upgrade. i really felt a difference with the strut... turning and handling is so much tighter.

I can't say this technically using phsyics laws and such cause I'm not that smart. I'll just try to explain usin real world examples...

If you had a "L" shaped bar, and stress was applied to one side or any both sides, the interior angle of the L could be altered or "flexed" based on the direction of the stress put on it and the amount. Having a 45 degree angle bar between the two bars of the "L" shape would decrease the tendency of it flexing because you've increased the support between the two bars and reduced it's tendency to contort from stress applied. The same can be said about strut bars. During hard cornering, the frame will have the tendency to flex towards the outer edge of a turn based on the mass of the car carrying it that way already, thereby reducing the responsiveness of the suspension, and the frame itself, and reduce it's reponse to input of directional control. Connecting these two fundamental points on the suspension and frame together decreases it's tendency to produce flex, and increases it's reaction time to your input, i.e., reponse time, thereby making cornering response crisper and quicker. Now, u might say, why not connect other points as well? And indeed, this is finally being done, by the likes of Tanabe that have cross member support add-ons and such to further enhance the structual sturdyness of the frame and it's connecting points. Also note that ur stock Strut bars already have cross-member supports that connect directly to the frame rather than just the suspension connections to the frame.

If you were to increase the turning response of your vehicle, and you were to take corners quicker and harder due to your new found ability, you'd also increase the lateral load transfer of the vehicle and thereby increase the tendency for the car to "sway" towards the outer edge of the turn. Sway bars not only reduce this tendency to put this lateral load from the frame to the suspension (springs/shocks), but also because they bypass the suspension and put the energy directly to the tires from the frame, it can also increase or decrease the tendency of oversteer and understeer, depending on how thick the bar is, what the flex point of the bars our, what type of driveline layout you have (FWD, RWD), etc.

So, in short, sways reduce the lateral load transfer to the suspension, but also add traction stress to the tires, and strut bars, or tie bars increase the responsiveness of turning ability due to the increase in structural integrity and the reduction of reaction towards momentum and therefore frame flexing.

I believe that's correct, some of you cocky geniuses will be quick to point out my faults or misinterpretations or mis-use of terms as I'm sure they're in there waiting to be found . And I'm sure some of you autocrossing heads like Tom3 will probably rip my explanation apart...

I would be nice if someone actually posted the increase in torsional rigidity with the "improved" strut bar.

Some of the bars look more robust (that the stock one). The question is one of qualitative information. The Comptech people give out the wrong front and rear sway bar torsion increases -- the front is closer to 20% increase, and the back is closer to 80%. (The figures the tell customers are based on an update to a CL -- not a CLS)

If some of the strut bar people would just jack the car up and measure the decrease in frame flex, it would really help to decide about that mod. I would get one in a second if I could see some hard figures.

Some of this stuff gets so subjective. It is just human nature...
