OK,

It's time to do this again!!!!! I don't know about everybody else but we need to get some Chicago meet representation! I'm tired of reading all of these threads with all of the other cities with 8,000 pictures and 2000 people showing up. (OK, OK I like the pictures, but I want some of cars that are closer to home) I know there are enough Acuras in the Chicagoland area to get this going so LET'S DO IT!!!!! All Acura models are welcome.

Looks like May 5th is going to be the day, that is the only thing that has been hammered out so far. May is perfect, not to hot, so we're not roasting outside, and it gives us enough time to get some more mods in for picture time.


Here are some ideas I've gathered from other members so far.... I like them all, and I can't decide, so the most democratic way to do this would be to have a poll, and here are the poll options...

1. Chicago indoor racing - that sounds bad ass, I've always wanted to do this

2. Meet in Hoffman/Schaumburg area - easy to set up, plenty of places to go

3. Chicago downtown/lakefront - opportunity for nice pictures

4. Forest Preserve Brookfield or anywhere for that matter - We can make a day of it and cook it out!!!


WHAT I NEED FROM EVERYONE...VOTE ON THE PLACE....LIST YOUR NAME AND CAR MODEL SO WE CAN GET A LIST...AND GIVE ME A YES YOU ARE GOING, NO IS NOT AN OPTION!!

Also if anyone knows anyone with an RSX, give them a heads up. If your friend has one and belongs to a forum, see if they can link this thread to their forum too.

So far sounds good- my entertainment secretary will be home tonite from Florida, so I will get with her. Would be a nice weekend away from home.

The family's having a small event in the morning and through lunch. I'll try to catch up with the group.

 

I'm tentative for that weekend, sorry, there's a Cub Scouts camping thing we're supposed to be at all weekend long.

I'm 95% sure I'll be there, just gotta make sure nothing else is going on that day with my gf. Should be good to go, though.

Here's my take on the suggestions:
Chicago Indoor racing -- kinda pricey, but fun. For the people not racing, you can sit upstairs and watch everyone go.
Hoffman/Schaumburg -- plenty of restaurants/etc, nice area, parking might be a problem.
Downtown/Lakefront -- awesome place for pictures, not sure how we'd secure an area. parking might be a problem.
Forest Preserve w/possible cookout -- really digging this idea, but it'll take some coordination (funding for food? renting out a lot? who would bring the grill/supplies? etc)

May is a good month (weather wise). Last years meet, everyone in the meet were cookin' it was so damn hot outside in Mid July. We had to run inside the mall to stay cool and grab a bite to eat

Andre, what's the cost for the indoor racing? It sounds like a cool idea. Post price, link to website...etc...



We should be able to find a place in the lake front. Definitely by the Shed aquarium. I'm sure they'll be some parking, but then again it's not promised.

hey guys,

Swift here. I am with the Legend crew and got the PM. I am supposed to go to Vegas for the national LEGEND MEET and race with Dali racing...(yes we are fanatics)

HOWEVER...few things...have to get another job...engine has yet to be finished, still have to rebuild trans...etc.. and another member we have to drop his engine in the next month.

SO this means we should attend your meet if i am delay further etc...and we are have a HUGE legend meet in mid summer with a legends from all midwest showing and a hot milano coupe you may know from HIN.

Anyways put me down as well as another legend member.

So far looks like Schaumburg/Hoffman Estates has it by a slight lead. Any of the choices are fine by me really. This seems to be more of a centralized location that may even be more convenient if more Wisconsin people join in.

If Schaumburg/Hoffman ends up winning it out, I will be the first to say that I don't really want to go to the Streets of Woodfield or Woodfield period for that matter. I really don't feel like getting hassled by the police if the congregation gets to big. Some of the attendees are coming in from out of state and it would be a total PITA if they came out and everything was broken up. We need to find a good spot that we can make arrangements in advance for so all goes smooth and we are welcomed where ever we decide to be.

Also, dates are always going to be a conflict when ever you set something up. I am sad that some folks won't be able to make it due to prior engagements, ie trips, vacation, family event, moving etc. That can be understood. Hopefully we can set something up in the summer so that we can catch the folks that couldn't make it to this event.

If there are a lot of people that might be able to make it on May 5th that have a conflict with the time, we can always push it back a few hours.

I'm coming from Detroit, so as long as I have some kind of address for the Navi to go to, it doesn't matter. I might just be coming in that morning and leaving that night or Sunday morning.

 

I can 99% make it. Saturdays I'm off, so just make sure I got nothing planned....

Am I the only wisconsonite so far? Damn....I'll have to try and recruit some more....

 

I can say at least from my past experience that a couple of the H-T meets I went to in the Schaumburg area were broken up by police/ security. We just moved to another parking lot so it wasnt a big deal but its still sort of a PITA.

There is a few nice secluded forest preserves in the Tinley/ Orland Park area that would probably make a nice spot for a meet. The parking lots arent very big but I cant imagine anymore than say 20-25 cars??? ...just a thought.
