Cedar Point meet... (in the making)

I am thinking about putting together a Cedar Point meet. Here's a brief overview of my grand plan.

It will be sometime in mid-August, and it will definitely be a two-day event, preferably on a weekend in the hopes that most people won't have to go through the trouble of taking time off work or anything.

If several people are going from one area (like Metro-Detroit) then we can meet up at a designated location and time then rally down there together. For others, we'll all meet at a designated location near Cedar Point.

We'll check in at the lodging facility (up to you guys to decide between hotel and campsite), relax and hang out for a while then go to the evening session at Cedar Point. The reason I'm suggesting the evening session is because it won't be as crowded, and we won't have to take anyone to the hospital for heat stroke. Last time I was there during the day, I thought I was gonna die from the heat and the humidity.

After the park, it's rowdy time. The next morning, we'll wake up with a bad hang-over, get some food at a local grease joint and head on home. (I'm such an alcoholic... notice how everything I plan ends with alcohol )

Now, I need some input on two things from those who are interested.

First, we need to pick and finalize on a date, and second, we have to decide whether we want to stay at a hotel or a campsite.
Every time I've gone to Cedar Point, I've always camped and it was a blast. Sitting around a bonfire making s'mores, drinking some cold ones and shooting the shit is always a good time (and the dirty pool). But it would also be nice to have air conditioning and a clean bed.

So let me know if you're interested!!

To start this off, I am suggesting the weekend of August 20-21, and I say we camp out!!

P.S. I swear I'm not a meet addict.

August 20-21 sounds good to TL-Cat and I. Her vote is for the cabins at Cedar Point- I LOVE to camp, but we will drive to camp if she becomes persnickety. This is so awesome- I haven't been there in 3-4 years.

There is already a meet for September! Our wedding! We have a whole wing of a hotel reserved, so we won't hear of anyone not being able to come .

No hotels!

If this is definite, I've got tons of camping stuff up north; I'll bring my tent, I think it sleeps like 8 or something.

I wanna do Soak City on Sunday!

Oh, and watch out...I might eat the entire bag of marshmallows.

Awesome. I was actually worried about who could bring the camping gear stuff.

Right now, I'm just gauging interest, but I want to make this happen for sure.

I plan on going on a weekday since the weekends are usually pretty busy. Not sure whether it matters or not, but DreamCruise is the 20th.

D'oh!! I move to change my vote. I can not miss the Dream Cruise. Thanks for the heads-up, Joe!

When I was at Cedar Point last time, it was on a Saturday in the evening, and it was DEAD. All the little kids and families leave earlier. The evening session runs 'til midnight. Cooler weather, less crowded.. it's perfect.

Also, when it's dark out, you can't see the tracks too well, and it makes it so much better.

I'll be out of town July 15-17, and July 27- Aug. 7. So make it sometime after that Rob, or I'll beat you up!

Looks like it'll be early September. Possibly Sept. 3-4.

As long as it isn't too close to the wedding, TL-Cat and I are fine.

I would like to make reservations at least a couple of weeks in advance and in order to do that I would need to know who's coming for sure. So please let me know as soon as possible.
