Yep like deadly said, it will affect your insurance. Any tickets you get will. I have three that I have court dates for in August. Really bogus ones, but it's really worth it to fight any ticket you get. If the cop doesn't show you get off scott free.

Always fight...it will make your ins. go up like mad...I have 5 convictions for speeding...my insurance is ridiculous...
it's worth spending $$ to get out of a ticket...and you would get it thrown out with a lawyer like xcopper or pointts there...
even without with no other convictions you'd prolly get off anyways...

Hey guys... most insurance companies give you one free ticket without raising your rates!... I'm with Co-op and I know I get 1 free one every 3 years of clean driving!.. check it out... also go to court.. but don't hire those xcopper guys...they're a waste of money!.. you can do as good as them by yourself.. = )
On a different note.. does anyone wanna sell their CL-S wheels? I'm looking for a set.. perferably from a local buyer..
thanks..

Hi fellow traffic law victims
For insurance, it works like this in Ontario.
You have have 2 minor tickets or 1 major tickets before insurance will go up.
Any speeding tickets, with up to 3 points or no points, are minor.
The record stays for 3 years.
However,
If you stay with same insurance company, they may not ask you if you have new tickets when you renew. So, your rates may not necessarily affected even if you get 10 tickets in a year. If you switch insurance company, tough luck, they will for sure ask you.
My advice is: Always fight tickets. Some cops are really lazy and they don't show up in court. There is 50% chance that you can get off clean. If your ticket carrys point, FIGHT! You'll never know when you will get another one for our cars are FAST. If you are busy, use ticket fighters. Many of them have connections that you won't believe. Many of my friends got off clean many times with tickets as high as 50km over speed limit.
For points purposes, the points stay in your record for 2 years. Speeding within 15 km is point free. over 15 is already 3 points.
I just got one in January when I was driving down to Detroit for auto show. It was a 119 ticket and I fought it only down to 114 (for $380

I have 5 minors and one major....it really sucks...I wish I would have realized 2 yrs ago, what kind of a long lasting affect a few speeding tickets would have on me...I would have fought every single ticket I have ever gotten, but I didn't and now I pay 5 digits to my insurance company every year, for one more year till 3 tickets get knocked off my record....and I turn 25...

wow 5 digits!!! that's scary. I am paying $2000 and I consider it high.
Well, they will eventually go away.
Btw, what other people are paying for their insurance?

Ouch Astro!
I'm paying $1900 and change for insurance, just turned 26. I have two minor tickets and I have three coming up with court dates.
I bought my CL-S at Erin Mills Acura cause it's close to work. I still have their ugly license plate frames on, but that will change when the metal ones I ordered come in this week

HOW ARE YOUR RATES SO LOW??????????????????
mine was suppsed to be $12 000, but i got lucky and found some way of going under my dads name blah blah blah, anyways, i pay $7000 dollars a year!
and since i got one extra ticket, it gonna go back to $12 000!!! but i took it to court, giving me a big break, and then when it goes on my record, 3 years will be up on my first tickets, and i'l be safe.
i got mine from Acura of North Toronto.

Have you guys shopped around for insurance???? Anything over $3000 is ridiculous. I remember when I got my quote on my 99TL, both CIBC and Belair Direct quoted me $3800 and eventually I called around and found Trader (now CGI) that gave me for $2400. The second closest was actually my original insurance company that quoted me $2800.
I asked CIBC why it was so expensive. You know they advertise that they can do cheaper. They told me they gave discounts to almost every car except three brands. Acura is one of those exceptions.

Folks, have you guys ever tried removing stone chips? Did you do it yourself and get someone else to do it?
I have one big one on my hood that I really want to take it out. Any experience on that?

I tried with one or two, but they don't look that good, prolly better off to let a pro do it for you...

Anyone you know that can do an excellent job? I need a perfect job and don't mind paying more.
I heard some expensive car dealers can do that. I just want to use one that is reputable and proven.

oh man i am dying reading the other prices you guys are paying for insurance.
dying ...
i dont speed or break the traffic law anymore, so for 2.5 more years i gotta be good...and slowly my tickets will go off. this is why i have no mods done to my cl-s, it would only make things worse.
my list is as follows:
speeding 15km over
failure to show ownership/insurance
speeding 26km over
seatbelt
speeding 15km over
I am 19, I drive a CL-S, and i am under the secondary driver, though its my car, i really need to stop gettting tickets.
what pisses me off is, the first few tickets i got, i didnt think would affect me, i thought everyone got tickets whatever blah blah balh, i didnt fight them or take them to court, I REALLY DIDNT KNOW INSURANCE GOES UP THIS HIGH.
ahh man i cant believe the rates you guys have, how old are you all? i know astro is early 20's..astro, 16grand? for what cars? cl-s, porsche, whats the other one?

I'm leasing my CL-S right now and didn't haggle too much. I'm not a good bargainer. I'm paying about $730/month for my lease. I bought my car last Sept. so the lease rates have changed since then. They gave me a good deal on my trade in, which was a Ford Escort ZX2. They basically paid off what I owed on the car, which was more than what the car was actually worth at the time.

I have stone chips and now a noticeable chip on my windshield from the crappy highway commute I do every day. I think I'll have to get them all touched up this summer cause every time I see them they bug the hell out of me. I tried touching up stone chips before on my ZX2 and it wasn't pretty either. I'm going to have it professionally done this time.

How did you get that ticket of not having ownership and issurance ready? Did they pull you over just for that? Or did you get it along with a speeding ticket?

That's great. Please find out for me. I have never get my car serviced at Woodbine before. In fact, I am not very impressed with the sales, quite unethical, IMO.
Are they any good?

CL: I'm not sure how much it would cost...
Service there is good to me...although there is only one tech that I allow to touch my car...he only works on the NSX-s and modified cars...
my sister who used to work at Woodbine also has good cennects at downtown acura, so if you want to try getting service somewhere else, let me know...
I'll get the paint dude's number and post it tonight or tomorrow for you

I went to Woodbine Acura yesterday to inquire about getting Eibach springs put on. They said $520 and the guy in parts said that I'd get lots of tire wear so he suggested a camber kit. Now I'm debating if I should spring for the Comptech's since it doesn't have as much of a drop so tire wear won't be as big a problem.
I'm interested in finding out that paint chip guy's info too. I have a few on my hood that i'd like to get rid of.

deadly... so, that was the price you paid for having a car that was attractive to girls
The good news is now you don't need to worry about being pulled over for no reason any more. I think most people consider the CL-S a empty-nester car. I have seen a number of CL-S in downtown these days, all driven by people at age of 45 to 60. I still haven't been pulled over in my CL-S yet (touch wood) for no reason.
