Ok this was posted by Jason (jason2713) Hopefully he can get with lil_turbo4 to talk more about the BBQ since more is going on now. Info below on the show and BBQ

Guys, I am buying the reservation to the park today, I am also making arrangments to buy the trophies for the car show.

Here are the trophies, I had to edit them since I do not anticipate there being a lot of domestic cars (or am I wrong?) You will register and pay $10 per car to be in the show. If you do not want to be in the show, you will pay $5 per head to eat food, enjoy the company (not per car! we will not allow you to fill a minivan and pay $5.


We will assign unbiased judges. Entries will be monitored, so don't try putting your pretty heavily modded car into the stock division and say I have stock TL rims and stock TL sway bars, but your whole interior matches and you have suede inserts on the seats and all.

If you have an accord, and have the HFP kits, rims, suspension, etc...then you are stock. If you have a car with rims, kit, suspension, headlights, system, and a few custom things, then you are mild. If you have all that and then some fish tanks, custom screens, your engine is painted to match, custom paint job...you will be placed in the wild category.

To give you an example, when i enter a car show, I put myself in the mild, I have a stock interior, ghosted flames on the exterior with factory paint, kit, rims suspension and stereo system in trunk. I don't have fish tanks, lava lamps, lightning globes, clear hood with screens under the hood, neons everywhere...etc etc. Depending on what we see at the show, ill probably be placed in the wild category, but we'll see.

Looks as though we may meet our 100 car goal, if not more.

Also, one more note, instead of starting at 4pm, we are starting at 2pm. We are going to have 3 judges experienced with the NCCA rules, and above are edited car classes. I don't think there will be many domestics, so I just made it CARS not imports/domestics.

Registration for the car show starts at 10:30am and goes until 12:00pm, we'd like to have judging start around 1-2pm so we can give awards around 4-5pm.

If you decide you want to help and add something to the show, the organizers are going to meet around 8:30am to get everything set up.

Sup. Looks like this car show is turning out to be really good. I'll bring my '06 TL and then I'll have my friend bring me back to my house to bring my 1st gen TL too. That one has more done to it. Although, for all of ya'll that need info, etc. on Dom's Navi converter, DVD 8500, and Wendy's (the girl from Ebay) small quarter sized backup camera, I'll have that installed on my 3gen the 17th!!!

One question- Where are the locals from like the Gaithersburg area meeting up BEFORE rolling to Cabin John ?

Well it's do what you want to do, jason2713 bought the trophies for the show and also paid to reserve the park and some of us our helping with the show/BBQ will be buying all the food/drinks etc so $5 bucks for food and park cost to me is not bad at all. If you plan to enter your car for the car show it's only $5 more so it's not braking the bank hopefully for anybody.

Man it can still be that way. I mean this shit was your idea anyways. I dunno maybe I am outta the loop but it seems like you started it and it was taken over by somebody else. I'm all down to chat and BS like we do at the D&B meets but pay to come to a car meet for what. I mean we're gonna drive an hour plus and then pay. That's kewl if that was the idea from the get go. If you need money for the pavilion that's kewl too. It's just nice to know everything up front and in advance. It definitely makes for a better/smoother meet. Ya know?

lil_turbo4 is still involved in this so don't forget that this whole bbq/meet was his idea and we just added more to it and if there is a problem just let me know. You're not paying anybody for nothing. We are buying the food, paying for the park, buying things for the car show as awards which is not cheap and if your down for that then that's fine. It's not like we are asking you guys to bring food/drinks etc and still pay some type of cover charge. If you want to stop by and chat and meet people and don't plan to eat or show your car then that's fine and you won't have to pay $5 bucks for all of that. If you guys just want to bring your own MEAT/FOOD/DRINKS then it would cost more out of your pockets why not pay $5 for everything so you can just come and have a good time and won't have to worry about nothing as far as food entertainment etc it's really that simple people. Tryo if there is anything wrong or something you would like to change just let me or jason know. This took alot of effort and money so if your saying $5 is not worth it then I don't know what is. Also we have been posting for the last 2 weeks almost so I'm sure that is more then enough time, it's still a BBQ/Car meet just with awards.

yeah i noticed i can't receive or send, might have to be here for a minute for that to happen sorry for the confusion.

The way I broke it down since this meet will not have nearly the number of cars as a typical car show:

Stock cars - must be stock parts, like HFP, aerokits, TL rims. As long as their a stock brand, they pass.

Mild - could have suspension, exhaust, CAI, some interior work, stereo work, rims, body kit...nothing too custom, I am normally in this class, but I'll put mine in the wild category.

Wild - highly custom, custom paint, custom interior, custom under hood, trunk, suspension, wheels, exhaust, u name it, it has it.

When you register, the judges will most likely point you in the right direction of where you should enter. We will be flexible with the stock cars since I know many of you have slightly modified cars, but not too much.

Well, if you'd like to know, this has taken a lot of time and energy to get together. We are not asking you to pay for our time, but to help pay for the costs. We are asking $5 man, we are offering food, soda, and the atmosphere.

What we paid for:
Food
Sodas
park reservation, 2 enclosures
grilling supplies
car show supplies
trophies
...and many other random things.

The trophies alone are costing me (yes me!) $300+ the enclosure rental was $110 each...then there's about $150 in food.

If anyone should be complaining, its me. I've invested hours upon hours into this meet, not to mention nearly $600

I do not want to have to be looking out for people not paying the $5. I do not want to be the police of this deal. I want to have a good time!

What we are offering is non-negotiable, so if you like it, that's cool, if not, that's your perogative too, but please do us a favor and not come instead of it being a confrontation. We are all adults, $5 I can get in my sofa with loose change.

That's all fine and dandy. I have no problem paying the $5. You're right $5 is way cheaper than buying and bring stuff by far. I have no problem how you all wanna run your meet either. That's all up to you and I'm fine with that. All I'm saying is if lil_turbo4 doesn't want certain things at his meet then he just needs to say so. Obviously there are some members on here that don't want to pay the $5 or think that they need to bring something and pay $5.

I have been going to car meets for at least 10 years. So I am by far not new to how they work. However, all the meets I have ever attended the organizers try to work out all the details before hand. If they need help paying for the pavillion or park then that's stated. If they want people to bring food or drinks to help out then that's stated as well. So basically there are no surprises. Some may think that the meet got too big too fast or some may not.

I know this meet took a lot of work time and money. I'm not over looking that. I'm just saying there looks to be members that are getting scared away by some of the things posted as of late. I'm sure this meet will turn out perfectly fine too. It just needs a few people to get on the same page. Hell, I'm fine with the car show as well. I'm even trying to get a friend to bring out his car that was recently featured in Turbo. Will he I dunno. However, if he does I'm sure he will be taking home that 1st place trophy in what ever catagory you place him.

Acurazine makes it hard to update meet info I will say that. This is the only forum that I belong to that won't allow you to edit your posts indefinitely. Believe it or not but being able to edit your threads definitely helps and cuts down on the confussion an 8 page thread like this may cause. Of course everything can still be changed you just have to go through a Moderator and that's fine but people get lazy and don't want to.

Look, I'm not trying to bend you, but this is not what was advertised here when it was started, and all of us AZ people signed up before it blew up. If it were up to me (clearly its not) there would be nothing more than any applicable park reservation fee, which was never outlined, and I would have chipped in for it.

But what we've got here is a full blown show. Should be really cool, and I know I'll be there. There's gonne be a load cars on Saturday it seems, of all kinds of domestic and import. Next time you feel like doing this, set it up as such. From an outsiders perspective, a BBQ meet and greet for 20ish AZ'ers got turned into an admission charging full-out show with 60+ cars and a 100 people, awards and DJs and shit that was never in the original design. I'm not the kind of guy that enters my car in a show and I don't want to go check out everyone's latest JDM shit. I enjoy meeting the locals that I interact with here on the board, and lets keep it that way.

iight guys let me tell you I was the one who 3 months ago thought about having a meet and who took babysteps and got www.d-series.org www.mdstreetscene and www.bwimports.org involved. I had the thread up about the meet B4 lil turbo came on posting about it. He actually came on and tried to post in a new thread about the meet. But ended up posting in my meet thread. Which he relized was a local meet and on the same day. EVENTUALLY we decided to have 1 big meet to have more ppl attend the meet.

From then we Dre (telele), Jason, myself and a few other ppl from other boards have been trying to make this the best god damn meet for this March and maybe even continue having meets and getting more ppl to come through the word of mouth so we eventually would be huge like HIN.

Now any1 bitching about 5$ admission is like a spit in the face to us. Its like we put all this work into the meet for what for ppl to complain?

Your 5$ admission goes torwards:
*park permit 110$ per shelter -total cost. We were thinking we needed 2 thats 220$
*trophies
*Food
*other supplies to get ready for the meet

This meet is costing us nearly 600$ and if you cant pay 5$ to try to help ppl get back the same amount they put into the meet thats fine dont show up. We will not fool with ppl who dont pay. If you dont pay dont show Period

Your admission fee is for food and drinks and to help out a lil bit with other stuff

the other 5 $ to enter the show is to also help with meet supplies as well as pay for trophies

once again 5$ PER person

and a aditional 5$ if you intend to join the car show-for these ppl they will pay 10$ for the meet

Remember guys this is a expensive meet and we are just trying to earn back what we put into it and not profit from it
