Thit cay quay is good since we have bbq grill. Cay roti is good too but we have to do it at home first

When I went back to Vietnam last year, first dinner meal is dogmeat. So good that before I left, I have another meal.

Cool Off Topic

Hey guys, let's pitch in for some good food and not be a bunch of cheapskates.

We ain't here to sit around and munch on some chips and soda you know what I mean.

It's a BBQ for godsake!!!

Go to Costco, pitch in with a few guys and get some good meat. (Tri tip, Ribs, Chicken, Flank Steak etc)

We are all driving pretty far to this event (3-4 hours), let's make it a memorable one with good company and some good food.

I'll leave you guys with this... if you can afford to drive an Acura, (I don't care which one) you can afford $10-$20 for some good food.

C'mon we feed our Acura's Premium Gas, why not feed ourselves premium grub?

**I'll be bringing some marinated chicken drumsticks**

Since we're talking about food, how about dog meat? I own six dogs but never ate one...a little counter cultural in the US...actually PETA folks might get a little pissed at the idea.

This is probably a dumb ass question, do people in Vietnam own dogs as pets as well? or would that be like someone in the US having a pet cow? No offense to cow lovers or dog lovers, dead or alive, just wonderin'

First time at Thursday Night Class so should be fun. I think Tommy's rolling by too.

Sorry, but I have to jump in about this dog topic.
Ecliptics: you are wrong in the spelling and what dog we eat back home. The word "thit chay" is incorrect. In the South, people say "Thịt chó", and up North, people say "Thịt cầy". Both means "dog meat".
It is true that we eat prairy dogs, but there are people raise dogs for meat too; however, most dog meat you find at restaurant/bar is comes from unwanted pets, or wild dog that lives in the city, or someone else dog pets running out of the house (there are people who everyday job is to catch running loose dog around city and sells to the restaurant). Only here that unwanted pet can get second chance at adoption place. Overthere, it's some one else lunch/dinner.
To Chico: yes, most people have dog as pets and to protect the house/valuable thing in the house/and the owner and do not kill their dog pets and eat. Some do happens but mostly in countryside.

Hey man, thanks...there are a lot of poor/hungry people in the US that could be feed with the millions of dogs in shelters and the millions of $$'s spent to care for them...I know, a little twisted...

If we need more meat or other stuff, I'll head to the market when we get down there...

san jose people... i mentioned this earlier.. would any of you guys like to meet up the day before to buy food?

I know i went to a Bimmerfest premeet in san jose with everyone and even did a cruise at night the night before the meet.. It was def. FUN, but almost ended up in a huge pile up in the hills,( i was right behind the guy) but luckily he controlled his car well throughout the little spin..

all in all, a fun night.. i say we go to COSTCO at Hostetter Rd. off 680.., buy our stuff and then kick back, chat, marinate? get to know each other so we at least know someone when we go to morgan hill to the caravan spot. anybody down? LMK i will get info and all that if i see interest.

I don't know what I'd do without it. ):

I mean, the teriyaki joint that I worked at, can hook me up with the meat, but ehh I dunno how it's gonna work. We won't even touch the meat for HOURS.

Hmmm Maybe i'll drag along my bigass igloo cooler thingamajiggy, and we can fill it up with ice? It should last till we get up there!

all in all, a fun night.. i say we go to COSTCO at Hostetter Rd. off 680.., buy our stuff and then kick back, chat, marinate? get to know each other so we at least know someone when we go to morgan hill to the caravan spot. anybody down? LMK i will get info and all that if i see interest.

If we do go buy stuff at Costco, we need to put it somewhere. I dont think it's a good idea to chit chat with the meat in your car. With all these food or frozen food, I hope people bring some coolers...

I know I'll be bringing a cooler for my K'ribs. There should be room for others that are bringing meat from the SJ caravan.

The filet mignon at Costco would be nice to pitch in for....

Some do happens but mostly in countryside.
haha yeah, i meant thit cay not chay. but my point was just that its not like we eat huskies and golden retreivers. last time i went back i was too pussy to try it lol i think next time i go ill be down

I only buy their ribeye... best steak of all the stores I've been to. As for filet mignon... I have a contact for that at a warehouse. I don't like filet mignon that much tho... meet doesn't feel like meet between my teeth (too soft).

Can someone updating the list next time, change what I'm bringing to korean ribs? I think I'll get pineapple too since I intended to bring that. I'll marinate it with the meat.

Filet mignon is pretty much what I would get for a big BBQ. If I were to eat it with a few ppl I would get the other cuts of steaks.
