Are you interested in buying? The more I see this car the more I like it. I still have yet to see one in person though, and I hear they look much better in person.

We still haven't received ours yet. We had one at the dealership on 12-5 but it was basically going from dealership to dealership for training purposes.
Theoretically this thing was supposed to go on sale 12-15, not sure how we can sell them if we can't show them to people
FWIW, it looks like they are producing Advance and Tech package models right out of the box. They claim the production breakdown will be 15% base, 15% Advance, and 70% tech package.

I've seen an ZDX at the auto show. Very stunning in person, definitely makes a styling statement. IMHO, looks similar to a 4G TL, you almost want to just keep looking at it...
The doors were locked though, so couldn't preview the interior.
I have a feeling the ZDX will be a surprise hit for Acura.

I sat in the backseat of a black Advance and bumped my head hard- ouch. It's not so bad seating but there's a big lip/ridge that protrudes around the skylight that sticks out. otherwise there was plenty of leg room.
it's nice overall, but a little too much truck and not enought coupe for my tastes.
due to the economy, high price, and other offerings I think it will not sell as well as predicted. of course I'd want the radar and cooled sreats- only in the pricier Advance.

Similar to Crosstour
This car has to be very similar to the Honda Crosstour. the only negative thing i have hear about that car is that it is hard to see out the back becasue of the angle of the back window. The only way i know this is because i live 15 min. from where the cars are developed here in Ohio and i get to see a lot of them before they are out and i hear a lot about them also!! good luck!!

I took one for a spin
I liked it. It was the Advance model so I got to play with the IDS which I was relatively familiar with from the old Sport MDX, however, they have added a steering adjustment that goes along with switching from comfort to sport modes which basically stiffens up the steering feel.
It "felt" like a more rigid platform than the MDX and "felt" like it handled better as well. I say felt because I have no had data that proves it does handle better or is more rigid but my butt dyno says it is.
I didn't have any issues with rear visibility but I can see where the complaints will come from as the rear window isn't huge and tapers in towards the bottom. The blind spot indicators are a nice addition. They make lane changes a little easier as you will see the light on as you look to your mirrors letting you know that someone is in the way. I would definitely keep them on for a while if I owned one but I'm not sure I would keep them on forever, I don't like a lot of extra lights in the cockpit.
IMO the ZDX handles as well as the Cayenne and I would certainly take a ZDX over a V6 Cayenne. The ZDX got up and went rather well but I'd still love a version that was pushing 350-400hp. Knowing Acura like I do, I won't be holding my breath waiting for this to happen.

I stopped by my local Acura dealer today to get my TL looked at, and asked to see the ZDX. They had only 1 on the lot, and was already sold/delivered. So when I am ever going to be able to sit in one?

Sat in one today at the dealer. Totally unjustifiable price tag. I mean the car is nice and all, but is it worth 55K+ tax? hell no. Before I spend that kind of money I have few other cars on my list. I'd be surprised if they sell a lot of them.

BLACKURA, the ZDX shares similarites with the TL, however, it is build on the same platform as the MDX. Alot of people are asking the same question in terms of the Cross Tour and it's justifiable but fortunately not true at all.

I have seen and sat in the Crosstour, and I have to say that it is much better looking in person, and seems to have much more utility than the ZDX. The Crosstour has a real backseat, low roof, but not bad if you are under 6'
Is the ZDX built in Ohio? I thought it was Canadian built.

Saw one this weekend at the dealer... wanted $1000 on top of the bottom line just because they think they can get it. IMO a little overpriced. Needs to fit in the mid-40s to be competitive and significantly undercut the X6.

totally agree, I was sitting in the most loaded one, which was 55K + 1K + sales tax. I was like "Are you kidding me?" well, if they can't sell them at the rate they want to sell them, I'd say in 6 month or so they will be selling them bellow invoice.

I finally saw one yesterday while I was at the dealership. I'm one of those people who is not at all happy with the styling of Honda/Acura latest vehicles. When I first saw the ZDX, I was speechless (in a bad way). Seeing it in-person, I admit that it's not quite as bad, but I'm still not feeling it much. I, (1) hope it sells and (2) hope that Honda/Acura styling evolve into something else when I'm ready to buy again in about 5-7 years.

I actually thought they were quite different, the ZDX being built on the MDX platform and the Crosstour is on a modified Accord platform.

People can say what they want about the ZDX, the fact is that, locally, they cannot even keep it in the dealership long enough for us to see it!!! Within a week of their arrival, the local dealership on the east side has already sold both ZDX (with Advance Package) and they have pre-sold the third one that has not even arrived. The dealership on the west side had one listed a week ago and now it's gone from their listing too.
I know that Acura is releasing it slowly (probably to create a demand) but it seems that the controversy with its styling has not done it any harm at all....

In terms of releasing it slowly, it's not being done by choice but more that it has the new 6AT which, as we all know, was delayed for production right up until December. It's gonna take another month or two to get each dealer in NA fully stocked with some colour/package combos. Look for a big push in March in terms of pricing/marketing.

I saw one briefly the other night - it was black. It looked really good in black, especially since everything blends in. The red tail lights stood out well.

What exactly is significant to you ? The X6, optioned out as close as you can get it to the advance package, will cost you $70K. Since the ZDX is around $56K fully optioned I think that is significant.
#27
I'm not arguing that the $56K pricepoint to an X6 is significant... it is. I think if that gap was at the $50K price point optioned out, you'd find a much greater customer base. Stretching to the mid 50s may be a little much with the economy.
#28
you can get it with nav & ent for $56k.
Even if zdx is $46k with the same option (it's not, its $56k), I would pay gladly $10k more to buy a X6.

nobody seems to care that 6AT is the first year acura is making it, given Honda problems with transmissions in 2000-2004 (time when they introduced 5AT), what level of confidence do you have in Honda getting 6AT right the first time?

Here's a X6 comparably equipped to a Advance package
http://www.bmwusa.com/standard/conte...qzCkN4qaYBeBs=
Thats about a $18000 difference.

You are comparing a negotiated price on a BMW to MSRP on the Acura.

I don't think your getting $10000 off a X6 either. My guess is that in a $74K X6 there is about 5-8K of profit. I doubt BMW dealers are interested in losing 2-5K to sell a car.
A base ZDX stickers at $46305, a base X6 is $57375, that's a 10K+ difference for less equipment in the BMW.
Fully loaded ZDX is $56855, the comparably equipped X6 is $74000 for a 18K difference.
People can complain that they are asking too much for the ZDX all they want, but the simple math is that Acura built this car for about 6500 customers so they don't care if it's too expensive for the unwashed masses. When you compare it to the competition, it's very agressively priced.

Go Big Blue!
You could just change that to don't expect to get a $10000 discount on a ZDX unless there is a $6000 dealer incentive which is extremely unlikely to happen.

I have seen one and for my money I would still take the MDX fully loaded. For the money the car just didn't do anything for me nor does the x6. I don't think this was ever built to be a high production car. The ZDX will be a speciality car for a few special people. I think if we could see better into the future of Acura we may understand this car better.
