CAMVAP or lemon law for ringing (pinging) issue
I'm wondering if anyone in this forum has successfully used CAMVAP (in Canada) or lemon law (US) to get Acura to buy back the new car for engine pinging?
I have a 2010 ZDX that has a ringing noise under moderate/heavy acceleration and Acura says there is nothing they can do at this moment.
CAMVAP: http://http://www.camvap.ca/
I'm in Canada. Any help would be appreciated.

Both Acura HQ and dealership say there is no fix for now. According to the client rep in HQ, I cannot escalate this any further, which is why I'm bringing the CAMVAP or lemon law thing up.

Contact a lawyer in your area who is familiar with the CAMVAP laws. In the US if they can't fix the issue after 3 attempts, you can proceed with the lemon law. Make sure you take it in and you're having them document the visits (and that you document the visits).

Did they acknowledge the problem and put it on a repair/diagnostic bill? If so go after them with lemon law if they can't fix it. You won't get it resolved through them. What engine is in the ZDX btw? J-series? If so that's pretty rare at low mileage and should be easy to lemon law on.

They acknowledged the problem but said this noise will not damage the car. The dealership has an open work order on it. Both times I was there for the issue the dealer did not give me any paperwork as they claimed it's not completed yet.
It is a J-series engine.

I had an 09 TL Tech (which I traded for this ZDX) that rattled but I never considered CAMVAP or lemon for that.

My wife has a 2010 mdx. Same pining/rattling noise. Dealer says “pinging and needs software update and Acura (Japan) thinks owners are not using 91 octane fuel” they referred me to Acura Client Relations…the story there was that this noise only happens in Western provinces and that only Shell sells “true 91 octane fuel”.
I don’t believe that one bit. In BC (where we are) the small claims limit is $25K. so if your unit is leased and the sum of the remaining lease payments (don’t count the buyout) is less than $25K, you could try going after Acura (Honda Canada) for breach of contract. Small claims is a much less expensive option for litigation.
it's nice to see that this issue is not "limited to Western Canada" as Acura has claimed...I wonder if lying to your customers is a legitimate marketing strategy.
I have to tell you, we will NEVER buy from Honda again. They have no intention of standing behind their product and they should rename “Acura Client Relations” to “give no information and make no commitments”.
