So its been about 4 months, and I still love this thing to death.


I did a 39 month lease on the car w/ a 15,000Mi yearly average.

I fully intend to buy the car once the lease is up, but obviously I suspect I'll be over the ~49,000 Mile 'limit' by the time the term is complete.

Ive seen in many posts by other drivers that dealerships some times cut deals at the end of a lease when you intend to stay within the Acura brand with another car, but I wonder if theres any such incentives if you intend to simply buy it at the end?


Would the dealership freak out of I ended up say 15,000 miles over even if I intended to buy it that day? (or perhaps use my Credit union to simply pay the full amount off). I'd figure if I ended up just buying the car straight at the end, there wouldn't be any need to 'penalize' me considering the car would be mine.


Comments or suggestions? Or should I just garage the car for the last 8 months or so to keep its miles in check, lol.

If you're gonna buy it at the end of your lease I wouldn't worry about it. If not you'll pay for each mile over 49K miles. The price per mile is stated in your agreement (cents/mile). Dealership couldn't care less. The car doesn't belong to the dealer.

They wont care if youre buying it.

If you turn it in for a new acura they will wave some of the over miles then charge for the rest.

If you turn it in and dont start new payments with them then they will charge fot every mile.

In the end they still dont care as theyll make money with every mile you went over.

I do recall reading from my "Acura Owners" website, that there is always the option to buy the vehicle for the total-remaining balance. (at the moment its in the 29,000 range...)


I wonder what would happen if I 'refinance' the remaining balance with my CreditUnion in a few years and simply pay Acura Financial Services in full before the mileage issue becomes a problem...



Also... the "15,000 per year" limit doesn't really apply till the end of the least correct?
That is, so long as I pay everything off before I hit 45,000 Mi, it should not count against me?


--I could always go into my local Acura dealership tomorrow and ask, unless that would some how admit me of guilt and make things worse---


What can I say, I didn't expect to like the '16 ILX A-spec so much, otherwise I might have simply bought/financed it from the start lol. (I even asked about a high mileage -over 15,000mi- lease deal with no avail)

Acura left me with a little bit of un-easyness from their previous 5 or so years of vehicles, who knew this was the year they really started bringing back that old Acura/Honda driving feel and out-standing over-all build quality. #EarlyAdopter

It's a great car, enjoy it! I put 6000 miles on mine in a little over 3 months and really enjoyed it.

As for lease and miles, if you're buying out it doesn't matter. Just keep in mind, your buyout is always FIXED and cannot be changed or negotiated, that's the beauty of a lease. You know going in what you are going to buy it out for at the end. Drive it, enjoy it, and you can always buy it out even now or earlier if you want.
