Common guys. Can one of you young guys help this old fart out?

 

i have some trouble doing the background screen hack...i tried...followed the instructions for the 07 TL background screen hacks but it seem to be not working...
i double checked the 07touch2.bin extract it out again and it's the splash screen i want....but when i load it in it's still the default splash screen....
help me plz =)

 

Wait I cant use a normal 4. something gb disc right crap i need to buy a dual layer... How much are those

Are you talking about for replacing the navi.exe and/or background BMP? On my 06 TL, I just use a CD-RW; the two bin files are only about 13MB IIRC.

I have a 2004 TL and am looking to upgrade the Navi to 3.60. Does anyone have a link to where I can download? I have found several but I don't know how reliable they are. Thanks!

you'll know it when it starts up. if it shows ur custom wallpaper, skips the disclaimer, and has the trip info then you did it right..

my startup goes as follows custom wallpaper, black screen (maybe for 3-5 seconds but no disclaimer comes up) then to the 'ok' button. It does not seem to be what your talking about. Any idea what i am doing wrong?

Please understand, that the file I offer is not a new hack, it is a pre-assembled solution based on instructions from the first page of this thread, which is made for 2005 TL. It will not work on any other vehicle.

 

I am having the same issues but I have version 4.56A.. Just a blank screen and then the screen with the "OK" button.

 

Got it to work. Had to use Paint shop Pro instead of photoshop. Guess I wasnt saving it correctly.

 

This can be an indicator that your image size is not correct. It must be a certain size EXACTLY. And the format must be right.

You end up with a pic xxx by xxx in pixel size and a file xxx,xxx in bytes. You'll have to search the thread to find the details.

The Picture size must be 480 x 234 EXACTLY.

The Picture File must be 113,398 bytes EXACTLY (Check "properties" for the file)

If this is wrong, you get a blank screen.

To trouble shoot you can use one of the images that datmrman shows in Post #3 or Post #25 on page 1 of this thread: https://acurazine.com/forums/ramblings-12/i-have-video-camera-college-campus-my-disposal-129948/. I know these are the right size, because I've used a few of them.

If it works, then you have a problem with your image. If it doesn't then you haven't done the instructions EXACTLY right.

I just want to change the beginning screen with a picture of my choice... How would I go about doing that .. Do i still need a dual layer DVD?

You can use a regular CD-R.

Been almost a year the 07 has been out, surprised nobody has cracked it yet.

 

I'm getting tired of waiting for the 'OK' Button hack for the 2007 4.56 Navi. Does anyone know or has tried if this hardware module will work?

I want to look inside the .bin files too see what files are compressed in it. I tried winrar and tried loading it with DaemonTools but neither will work. Does anyone know a program that will allow me to do that? Thanks.

 

I am sooooo damn frustrated with this MOD.... i am willing to pay SOMEONE TO DO THIS FOR ME!!! i have been trying this for a week! 6 burned discs later i am on the verge of breaking my navi disk!! i have the 04'TL Ver 3.30 ..... i just wanted to do the nag removal, and put a wall paper on there!! can anybody please help me?!!!

I would like to know if anyone in Canada has successfully modified their 07-TL-S splash screen using the mods from this forum (as they relate to the 07 model) . Extracting Opening1.bmp, from the 07Touch2.bin brings up a graphic unlike anything that comes up on my Navi screen - it shows a graphic with Acura Link referenced on it. Since we don't have Acura Link up here - according To Acura Canada, that isn't the graphic they use and it isn't the one that pops up on the splash screen. If a search is done I can find a .bmp file called OpeningBase.bmp. This appears to be the background image of the splash screen but there are 2 additional files that play a role, one of them is Acura32_27.bmp or Acura_Emblem.bmp and the other is Navi_Title.bmp. All 3 appear to be combined to produce the splash screen on the Canadian models. I did not look in the 07Touch.bin file only the 07Touch2.bin. If you have a Canadian 07 TL that you have successfully replaced the splash screen on, could you let me know how you did it. The directions from the forum (the 07 section don't seem to work for me).

It's really not that bad, but I will admit, some details have been left out of this thread. See if this older thread is easier to understand: Hack Your Navi Summarized! (Change pics and remove nag screen) It will at least give you the basics on changing the splash screen. Once you get that to work, the trip computer/nag removal might be easier to understand. Good luck!

 

If your getting this and you know you did everything right, it's your burner software. So far, looks like Nero, Windows Media Player and the indigenous Vista burning software are all culprits.

I downloaded 'Final Burner' from download.com for free like gt1 suggested. Worked 4.0!

BTW, if your BIN files load correctly you'll get a green dailogue box across the top of the screen with a series of about 15 open white boxes that slowly fill as it loads the new files.

 

This is an update to my previous post - for TL users in Canada who wish to change their splash screen. All of the instructions contained in prior posts apply to US models only. To alter your splash screen you need to follow these instructions to extract the needed files and make the necessary directory - go here for the files you will need (http://www.guicide.com/cars/2006civic/nav/hacks/) Click "How to change the splash screen") Once you have your directory made and you have copied all of the files specified in the link above, follow this protocol:
1. The only file you are interested in is called 07Touch2.bin
2. Type: Bysin 07Touch2.bin extract OpeningBase.bmp (you will see extracting OpeningBase.bmp - let it finish)
3. Type: Bysin 07Touch2.bin extract Acura_emblem.bmp (you will see extracting Acura_emblem.bmp - let it finish)
4. Type: Bysin 07Touch2.bin extract Navi_Title.bmp (you will see extracting Navi_Title.bmp - let it finish) The 07Touch2.bin file you just extracted the 3 files from is the one you want to use so remember where it is.
In case you are wondering, the above 3 files are all used to display the splash screen on the Canadian 07 TL.

6. I am not good with PhotoShop so it took me a very long time to get a background I liked and was the correct size. The original picture turned out to be a 24 bit image. It is 224,712 bytes 225,280 bytes on disk. 480 pixels X 234 pixels with 72 pixel resolution. The image size is 6.667" X 3.25"
7. If you are over 224,712 bytes (225,280 bytes on disk), the splash screen will not load. I was under by 16 bytes and it failed.
8. Here is the background I used, if someone can add it to the images in this form that would help but note it only works on the Canadian 07 TL. http://solutions2000.ca/images/ (the file name is OpeningBase.bmp)
9. Once you have your splash screen the way you want it; make sure it is in the same directory that your 07Touch2.bin file is in.
Do the following:
10. Bysin 07Touch2.bin update OpeningBase.bmp ((you will see updating OpeningBase.bmp - let it finish) If you update the Acura-emblem.bmp and the Navi_Title.bmp files beware that they are not surrounded by a transparent background so unless your splash screen has a lot of black in the centre both will show up surrounded by black. I did not add either back into the 07Touch2.bin and the files load and work fine without either file.
11. Copy these 6 files to a CD - (they are from your original version 4.55 Canadian Navi disk) you DON'T need to use a DVD. I used a CD-RW and it worked fine.
Here are the 6 file names:
A0000_00.MNG
PRG_INFO.MNG
UPDATE_APL.exe
DCA0.REG
07Touch2.bin - replace this file with the one you modified!
07Touch.bin
12. Go out to your car and turn the key on and go to the trunk and open the DVD door, it flips up.
13. Press the eject button and wait for your original DVD to pop out - place it in a safe place where you won't scratch it.
14. Place your newly burned CD into the DVD drive. It will load into the drive.
15. Go back to the drivers seat - you should see an error message saying: DVD Disc reading error (incorrect DVD Disc) please consult your dealer. (You might see Vehicle is out of the database coverage area).
16. Press and HOLD the following 3 keys: MAP+MENU+CANCEL - hold it until a new screen pops up -- this is the Select Diagnostics items.
17. Press the on-screen button that says "Version" - bottom right corner.
18. The next screen will show a button that says "DownLoad". Press it.
19 After a short wait you will see: Please wait. Downloading software.
20. After a brief wait - under a minute usually - the next screen will say Please do not shut off engine.
21. You will see a progress bar advance - slowly - very, very slowly. Prepare to wait at least 3 minutes.
22. Once the files are loaded you will see your splash screen pop up on the display. If you don't see your splash screen, then something went wrong in the file size.
23. You will then see an error message saying the wrong disk is inserted.
24. Eject the CD and insert your original Navi DVD.
25. Once your DVD is fully loaded into the drive, go back to the car, turn the key off wait a few seconds and turn the key back on. You should see your splash screen and after a normal wait time you will see the OK button.

Sorry, I don't yet know how to get rid of the Canadian 07 TL OK button, but I am working on it.

Once more thing - while all this worked perfectly for me, use at your own risk, if you really mess up, disconnect the battery for 30 seconds and start over with your original DVD.

If the admin wishes to move this to an area where it is easier to find for those Canadian users who wishe to modify their splash screen, that would be great, and if someone knows how to post the OpeningBase.bmp file here that would help as well. Then I can delete it from the web site.

What are you trying to make transparent? If you give a bit more information, I may be able to help?

 

u know the acura_emblem and the navigation title i can still see those because they in a black background
so i was wondering how can i just only display the openingbase.bmp and eliminate or make the acura_emblem and navigation title transparent so it's not seen on the screen

 

I choose not to make the background of Navi_Title and Acura-emblem transparent. I simply extracted (see the directions on my post for instructions) both files from 07Touch2.bin and never reloaded either file. So I never worried about making the background transparent. However if you choose to do so the resulting images must be the same size when you update 07Touch2.bin or your splash screen won't display properly. If you have PhotoShop - I use PS 7, you can use the Magic Wand tool to select the area you wish to be transparent. Once that is done you go to the Help menu and select Export Transparent Image. Follow the on screen directions. When you are done then you should open either file in PS you should see a houndstooth background around the title and the emblem. If not then they aren't transparent. It sometimes helps if you save the file as a gif to start with and then convert it to a .bmp file. As I noted if you wish to toss both files simply extract them and don't update the bin file with either file - You are good to go then.
