Steering Wheel leaking and mount looks burnt

Hello All,

After getting the car back from the dealership and told they could not replicate the issue of speakers crackling (after FAKRA adapters replaced) and steering wheel clicking noise. I decided to take a look at underneath the steering wheel myself. Does this look normal on anyone else's TLX?

This is from a 2021 TLX Aspec. Car has been having multiple issues with USB port not working unless car has been fully restarted, speakers crackling when accelerating, clicking noise coming from steering wheel and steering rack replaced. Recently, the ambient lighting stopped and radio will throw all sorts of errors on top of parking sensors going off. Just picked up the vehicle and was told on all issues NPA could not duplicate. I drive off and instantly speakers are crackling when the accelerator is pressed on highway and steering wheel is clicking. A clock spring was ordered on my last visit but on arrival the other tech said the noise is normal on all TLX's and they did not install. I decided to take a look underneath and found fluid leaking and the mount looks burnt like someone tried to weld it. I bought this car brand new so no repairs done on vehicle to steering column.

The USB port and the rest of the infotainment is very flaky. I would not back a car out of a garage or connect a USB stick until the infotainment shows the final screen on "boot up". After the initial connection, subsequent startups are a lot smoother without needing to wait (like the time required to park a car, walk inside a restaurant for takeout, and restart the car), even continuing the music you were listening to when you turned off the ignition (technically, open the driver door but you know what I mean). Even my prior gen MDX was nowhere this picky with the infotainment.

I hope you get your issue resolved. A number of owners here have had their steering column replaced because of clicking as well. You may want to track down the TSB number before going back to the dealer.

Thanks ELIN for the response. What is weird, I will use the wire and won’t connect until the car has been driving for 10 minutes and same issue of phone not charging or android auto not loading. I tried an iPhone cable and iPhone as well, same issue. No charging or connection to vehicle until I park, turn off car, open door to turn radio off and start the car. I was able to run the diagnostic screen and the Customer USB every time I have this issue, will show a red hard key tab as well as a red error history. After restart everything is green. I went ahead and checked the steering column and there is liquid/ grease on some harnesses and underneath the steering wheel running down to my brake pedal. Little upset I have been complaining about the clicking of wheel and speakers crackling when accelerating and the dealership claims to have checked and could not replicate. All they had to do was look underneath and see the stains on the trim running down to brake pedal. I will attach a screenshot of the diagnostic screen in the event anyone else is having the USB issue.

That is definitely worse than the Acura USB quirkiness I was talking about. At least you have a screenshot of this and should be able to replicate this at the dealer.
