Red leather seat issues? Anyone experiencing?
Red leather seat issues? Anyone experiencing?
I’m hoping to get a tlx eventually and would want the red leather seats.
on a Facebook post a user of a tlx type s red leather seats are discolouring and look pink and faded after one year. He was saying car is tinted and garage kept.
another commenter stated it is a known issue and he sees it a lot with rdx and mdx seats.
anyone ran into this issue?

The seats on my Type S were looking maybe a little faded, with some mild wear in the driver’s seat bolster too. I have just under 4k miles, but the car does sit outside most of the time as we just have a 1 car garage unfortunately.
I used some leather cleaner and conditioner on them, and they look brand new again.

Purportedly after only 18k kilometers/11k miles.
The owner says he's 150lbs. My black RDX seats look vastly better with 22k miles and me spending probably 50% of the time in them weighing 210lbs. Most others in the post say there's are holding up well too.
Though, I also noticed that there were complaints and inconsistencies with the leather where people talked about how their leather looked "loose" after only a few thousand miles.
Might just be another one of those "luck of the draw" type things.

Just picked up a 21 ASpec with red seats and white exterior
i too noticed the red seats starting to look a little pink
Used some leather conditioner after cleaning the seats with a white cloth and soap/water.
The key is to use your hand to rub in the leather conditioner. Started out with a micro fiber but it didn’t leave enough conditioner on the seat. Using your hand left enough excess conditioner on the seats which was eventually absorbed by the leather. Parked the car out in the sun to let it bake in
After a few hours, the pink was gone and the red looked deeper. Problem solved

I have a 2021 TLX Type S with 27K miles. The car is garage kept and all the windows except windshield tinted. I have had no issues as of yet. I haven’t seen any issues with the red seats in our service bay either so I don’t think it’s a widespread issue.
This is great to hear for those with issues.
