Stance Acquired v3.0

hey guys I just picked up a 2021 TLX A-Spec. I had been on the fence for a new daily for a while and I finally on a whim jumped on auto trader and pulled the trigger. I absolutly love this car so far. I told myself I wasn't going to mod it crazy but I've already got a list of mods im planning lol. I'm probably not going to mod it performance wise except for maybe a JB4. I have a NSX that's loud etc so Id really like for my daily to be nice and quiet. I just put a deposit on wheels today to start getting them made and im slowly piecing the type-s brembos. literally one part is backordered so I can't finish it until Honda decides to make it. I look forward to sharing my progress on this build. I'm almost finish with my NSX so it's fun to have a new build journey.

Ah dude that's awesome! I am happy to hear you are enthralled with the new design language from acura. I have been enjoying mine and I'm sure you will with yours.

How is the nsx running?!

my first official mod, the bbk off the type-s. these calipers are huge. I didn't expect them to be so big. I have the kit ready to install but unfortunately I can't install yet. there's one part that's backordered so I hope it'll come in soon.

Oh heck yes! The calipers really are big. How long will it be before your wheels arrive?

They said 4-6 months. I’m hoping for 4 months. I get my new NSX wheels next week. They said 4-6 months and it ended up being 4 months so hopefully I’ll get lucky again.

You can just use non-OEM brake fluid, man. No sense in waiting until they have it back in stock to install those bad boys.
Congrats, I have used my buddy Brian's TLX aspec pretty extensively and although overall I still feel like most new cars lack a
certain characteristic I crave...I can't lie, it's a great car and drives quite well. Especially for daily duties when you already have a
more race oriented car.

Huh? Lol. It’s a hard brake line that attaches to one of the calipers that’s backordered.

Oh yea for daily duties it definitely does what I need.

My jokes are corny...
I enjoy your threads though.
I often wonder what it would look like to just babysit a car or two...I feel like I would take them to the next level and keep them perfect like you.

I'm around these cars a LOT...
when lowered on wheels, they are REAL head turners.
You won't regret getting the visual mods, that's for sure.
Very cool progress.

Oh yea I can’t wait to finish this kit and lower it. This will be a quick build unlike my NSX lol. I’m 11 years in and finally almost finished lol.

I was given almost 8-9 month wait for the brake hose back in early 2022. So I ended up having a shop made me a set of stainless steel braided hose.

Oh wow I don’t blame you. I couldn’t believe I paid $1k for this kit and then a $3 part held up the install for months.

Yes my friend works for Honda HQ and said all the parts I had ordered was in stock except the hoses and there were no ETA back then due to parts shortage so I did plan B and had a shop made me some custom brake lines which is $90

I was beginning to lose hope because so many months started to go by then I randomly get a email from the dealership saying it came in. Your pics kept popping up when I would look up the swap so I didn’t want to give up cause it looks so good on the car. I’m currently at an exhaust shop getting a type s exhaust put on so I can’t wait to post those pics. I hate the hdmi port tips on the a spec.

Ya down the road you might need to upgrade the rotor as well. There’s issue where rotor will warp as the car is a tad heavy when you brake. They had issue on the MDX as well for the base and Type S. I know there’s issue on base TLX but haven’t heard news on the Type S. I did a GiroDisc 2 piece rotor on my. But you can try Paragon brake as I had them do a lot for the base and Type S 2 piece rotor as well.

I picked up the type s exhaust and got rid of those hdmi looking tips. I have a loud NSX as my weekend car so I wanted to keep my daily TLX quiet, so I decided to keep my a spec piping since it has resonators but the type s doesn't. I kept only the mufflers.

K&N Air Filter

I decided to look into k&n air filters for the hell of it and I was surprised at how many people swore by them because ive never looked into them. after looking at reviews of them on YouTube I decided to go buy one. it made a big difference in responsiveness. it pulls a lot harder with the accerlation, im shocked at how restrictive the stock filter is. its a simple mod I definitely recommend.

It’s a good drop in filter for the money worth. I actually did a custom air box on my. I added a K&N cone and custom made a pipe and still utilize my stock air box.

I picked up the front and rear bumper pieces to finish off the kit. now I have to lower it asap because it makes the car look like its sitting up higher.

one of the few performance mods I plan to do. I got a ktuner module with a phearable stage 3 tune. it adds 54whp and 98tq. it'll put me at 300whp. I highly recommend this mod if you'd like more power for a relatively low price for the power you're getting.
