Yeah I didn’t want to risk it so just had the dealer do it. Should have asked how much for the labor before hand though? $500 seems a bit high
Amortize the $1,000 against all the time that you'll enjoy "Your unique car" and you've got a bargain. The change is subtle but stunning, and many folks will say "I can't put my finger on it, but THAT CAR looks great". Well done, sir!
Here's the emblems. I didn't get the rear A-mark in dark chrome as I felt some regular chrome was needed to match the exhaust. Overall I'm pleased, they're still chrome but darker (i.e. no "plasti-dip" look). Depending on the lighting, it can reflect light almost as much as the regular chrome emblems, but from other angles it'll look nearly black. In sunlight when the sun hits it just right you might not be able to tell the difference vs the original emblems unless they're side-by-side. If you wanted a black-out look, then I'd suggest plasti-dip. This is much more subtle and feels more "OEM+" than aftermarket.
Bilirubin, looks awesome! I like the “OEM+” approach, special but keeping it classy…
Thanks. And just a quick detail I noticed: the rear 2022 Type S accessory badge is larger.
The 2021 black chrome Type S kit was part number 08F20-TGZ-200 and included 3 different sizes of Type S emblems (small for the front grille, medium for the trunk, and large for each front fender). Looking at the 2022 black chrome Type S kit instructions, the part number is now 08F20-TGZ-200A and there are just 2 sizes of emblems (small for the front grille and large for the trunk and each fender).
So the rear black chrome emblem is larger for 2022. It looks like I had the 2021 emblem kit installed.
Looks dope dude!! Im trying to sell my 2008 TL and get the new TLX Type S as well. Gotta do a bit of research first but it seems like a good car and the styling is slick.
I'll be picking up an Apex Blue in September. I think the Plasti Dip looks better but these do look good. I saw the blackout on the PMC and I just liked it a lot better
Did them myself from ebay: $45 in parts and an hour of time! And the A mark logo I just did with plastidip for now...stuff lasts for years and is dirt cheap!
Added an "Acura" rear emblem, in black chrome to match the Type S emblem. Acura stopped doing this type of emblem over 10 years ago (in North America) but I like how it looks.
