KTUNER for the Type S is OUT!
For those of you with the KTuner, how has it been working for you? Thinking of finally picking one up with a 10% off sale that's going on.
Also, if anyone is interested in a like new JB4 at a great price, let me know!

Received mine in the mail earlier this week (shout out to Heeltoe for the super quick shipping!) and got it set up. Really happy with how the car responded to it. The added power is noticeable, like BadMoon summarized earlier, but I also noticed that the car just feels smoother than before. Highly recommend this for any other Type S owner!
So far, I have the KTuner, ATLP secondary cat delete, and PRL drop in. Thinking about picking up the PRL silicone tube next and maybe intercooler down the road.

This is where you can tell the difference between tricking the sensors vs reprogramming the ECU. I wish I would have waited for the KTuner instead of buying the JB4, but
For those of you with the Ktuner, once all the different tunes are loaded to the Ktuner v2 via laptop, do you still need the laptop when you want to switch between tunes? I don’t have a laptop and really don’t want to buy one either.
Once the tunes are loaded onto the v2 unit, you don't need a laptop connected to flash the tunes onto the car. You just plug in the v2 to the OBD port and that's it it's very convenient and easy to use.
Also, you don't need a laptop either. You just need a Windows PC. I think having a laptop would be needed if you were custom tuning the car with the device hooked up. Since the Type S only has the base tunes available, you just need a Windows device for loading them onto the KTuner.
It’s unfortunate that there’s no custom tuning ability since the arrival of the J30AC platform. This seems to be the limiting factor; no point in continuing to slap on parts if you can’t make them work in harmony. Time will tell what the future has in store.
Personally speaking with this platform, I’m happy with the “feel” of my Jb4. I say feel because I don’t know how much power I gained but it does feel and pull harder.
on the other hand if I had a m340i or an S4/5 I would expect a whole bunch more power.

The limiting factor is being able to unlock and tune the ECU. You can’t add water/methanol system, you can’t tune on strictly E85, there aren’t any turbo upgrades, etc.
Without tuning, slapping parts on is pointless. No one really knows the capabilities of the J30AC or durability since it’s a newer platform. Time will tell though.

There's a guy in the fb group that has unlocked the 23+ ECU with a ktuner. There is a 23 running on a beta tune at the moment, if I recall correctly. Not sure if this will open the door to custom tunes, he's not sharing much until all testing is done.
Baksju, you and ELIN should go have a beer together. Sorry to hear you're so disappointed in your car, but if your intent was to buy something to modify then ANY of the germans should have been your first choice. JZ swap it!
For those with the ktuner, did anyone document gas mileage? I know power is the goal here, not efficiency. I've seen other cases where it's "do more with less" and it's a win-win when adjusting the over conservative factory settings.

Small update. As I was leaving the car wash today a newer (I'm guessing 2021 to 2023) BMW 340i left right in front of me. We both turned left at the same light. He took the left lane and I took the right lane. There was a slow minivan in front of him so he switched into my lane and punched it, I punched it at the same time for roughly 3 or 4 seconds and acceleration was almost identical. It was hard to tell perfectly as we were in the same lane, but it was very close. Granted, he was stock, but I'm plenty happy with a $600 modification making such a big difference.
Do you think the dyno numbers on the KTuner are off or is the TLX just too heavy?
I know I'm bringing this back from the dead; but I was wondering how you were only keeping up with the BMW. With the KTuner, you should have about a 20HP and 70FT/LBs advantage. Just seems like we should at least be able to edge out non "M" 3 series BMW's with the KTune.

1. he might be running the dampened tune because of boost cuts
2. tlx is heavier
3. sh-awd is more conservative when flooring than xdrive which sends majority of power to rear at all times, not only low speeds
4. bmw is lying about numbers, m340 has more than 382 stock

Wow, I had no idea the BMW was that quick. Definitely undersold the horsepower.
