Ideal Audio Settings

Hi, I've had my 23 Type-S for about 2 weeks...loving it!

Quick question, I know this is highly subjective, but what is everyone's ideal audio settings? As in what are the Treble/Midrange/Bass levels? Ceiling/Center speaker levels? Surround on/off? Unfortunately, I have profound hearing loss (use 2 hearing aids) so my hearing is nothing like what it used to be. But the ELS system still sounds amazing to my crappy ears. I was just hoping that perhaps someone could advise on their "best" settings, since it is more difficult for me to tune a system now with hearing aids. I generally listen to "lossless" audio via Apple Music streaming through CarPlay. Occasionally FM radio and rarely XM (quality even to my ears is bad no matter what system).

Thank you!!

Here she is

The only bar I moved was bass to +3. DTS off, enhancers off. 100% of listening is lossless apple music through CarPlay.

Savage Geese reviewed the car last year (a '22) and said the stereo was superior to others even without tweaking. Do each his own though...
Glad you're lovin' that Type S, looks great in white. I'm still debating which way to go, thinking the 2.0 is lighter and might handle better. Any particular reason you went with the V6?

Yeah, I think I'm sticking pretty close to the standard settings for now. I did bump up the ceiling speaker volume a bit for a bit more surround experience...I also dropped the bass level by 1.

As for the 2.0 vs the Type-S, it is night and day difference IMHO. I had a loaner '22 2.0 A-Spec while my accessories were being installed at the dealer, and it drove nothing like the Type-S. The Type-S felt more nimble, more planted (maybe due to weight), sounded a TON better (I'm not a fan of most 4 cylinder engine noise), felt more solid (more chassis bracing), the transmission seemed to shift quicker, and the adaptive suspension felt far superior to the standard. Not to mention the NSX inspired wheels with the larger red calipers make a big difference appearance wise. The A-Spec didn't drive like a "special" car, the Type-S does.

Think you just cost me 5 big ones, in a good way. And you say the S feels more nimble despite the extra weight? That's saying something. To your point about shifting, I have heard the S does shift faster and that Acura needed to beef up the tranny to accomplish that purpose, so you're not imagining things. Appreciate the feedback... thx.
If you have a chance, try the road off I-80 to Foresthill. Just be careful about LEO. It's a popular run.

I actually like the DTS setting so I leave it on. Otherwise I have everything centered. I listen to classic rock so I like a higher mid-range with treble and especially bass scaled somewhat back. The bass sound for the ELS system has the capacity to generate measurements on nearby seismographs, so for folks who like a ton of slamming bass my advice is to crank it up and enjoy (but it might throw your heart rhythm out of whack). For my ears, scaled back, the bass just satisfyingly underlines the sound like a big audio pool of warm chocolate fudge.

I'm DEAF in my right ear, due to Radiation Nerve damage
Anyway, I keep my settings on Neutral in my TLX/ASPEC/ELS
Primarily use a USB/5.1 Surround Classic Rock for my music
Even with one Ear, it sounds great; can't really hear the back speakers, but that's ok
Everyone, that's been in my car, agrees, it's awesome
P.S. The USB REALLY makes a significant audio difference
Try it; you'll be very impressed!

I've been wanting to try the USB/5.1 audio, but haven't found a way to get some music yet. Where are you getting your 5.1 songs for USB? Any free stuff out there? Or do you have to pay for each song? I mainly listen to 80's music, so if there is some place to find that music in 5.1 lossless format that would be awesome.

Someone GIFTED me 2 USB's, when I got my car
I'm clueless, as to how you create them
There was an Elliott Scheiner, USB, that was a demo for the ELS system
No one at Acura seems to know, how to get one

5.1 Audio Files Available to Download

If you're looking for 5.1 files to download, you can find them here...https://www.youtube.com/@5.1MusicChannel/channels
The files download in 5.1 format (.mp4). They can be converted to flac (5.1 uncompressed) with foobar2000.
Notable available file is Hendrix's Voodoo Child Slight Return from Electric Ladyland (50th Anniversary Deluxe Edition), featured in the Acura Electric commercial.

I disagree. What are you playing it back on? The YouTube files may not be as good as the direct disc rips. But they're pretty close. I'm not an audiophile, but they sound pretty good to me. I do use Goldwave to boost the LFE channels to add the missing bass/low end. I also use other GW filters to "normalize" and add compression to the post-boosted 5.1 files.

Need some help.

So I think I figured out how to get the YouTube songs from that channel downloaded. I used MPC-BE to download some 5.1 songs from the YouTube channel to .MP4/.MPA format. Confirmed in the properties it showed multichannel. Used Foobar2000 to export the .MPA format to .FLAC. Copied to USB, tried in car, and it sees the songs but says the format isn't supported. Am I missing something? Should I just be using the .MPA format?

Did you export to flac and save with Zero Compression (FLAC, level 0)?

Hmm...no I didn't. Looks like default was Level 5. Just switched to Level 0 and will try that.

I used to build car audio a LONG time ago, and when I get a new 3D sound system Acura, I set up like this: Raise the Treble a couple clicks above center, drop MID just one click below middle, raise bass all the way or ONE notch down from max

Next: Drop center channel and overhead speakers one click below mid

Turn on surround sound or whatever it's called...turn on compression enhancement, or whatever it's called lol

Try that.....

Sorry to resurrect an older thread...Can someone please list the steps required to download the 5.1 audio files from the Youtube sites listed above? I am scratching my head looking at YT and can't figure it out.

TIA!

I wish I could turn the bass up to 11 in mine, because it is lacking - especially compared to my '07 TL-S.
