Wireless charging is virtually worthless

One of the selling points on my new 2021 TLX was the wireless charging. I've tried to use this since I bought the car 2 weeks ago....it is virtually worthless. It charges for literally 2 - 3 seconds and then starts flashing green or green & yellow. What a waste. Just like the puddle light issue, I hope Acura is looking at this and will fix it under warranty.

I never like wireless charging from cars. Hardwire is best.

This.

Especially without Wireless Apple Car Play. Add in Apple Music offering Lossless Audio via USB connections paired with the ELS Sound System and I could never justify the wireless charging with Bluetooth Audio.

Never was all that great in the 1st gen TLX either. Tray was very small and charging was slow. I used it maybe twice. Cord was better and needed anyway for AA/Carplay.

I noticed that my iPhone would keep creating that wireless charging start/end tone when it was full which was always annoying. I'm not sure that it does this with a the battery being lower as usually my phone is charged. I don't have these issues with wireless chargers in my home so it's just the way the Acura chargers are I guess. But as you said, WIRED>Wireless.

And as I said above -- why wouldn't I want lossless audio?

Are you using an iPhone 12? There is a known issue with the Mag connect of the newer phones w/Acura's wireless charging. I don't think there's a fix but a class action lawsuit may be coming.

Samsung Note 10. No issues with wireless charging. Are you using a case? If so, try removing the case.

I have to disagree

Don't depend or expect it to fully charge your phone. If your phone is almost dead and you got a little ways to go, it'll do the job enough. Also, when you add wireless charging + wireless android = definitely not worthless. I'm tired of cables

Like I said, it's a known issue with the iPhone 12 and up. No fix from Acura, unfortunately.

I use CarPlay about 90% of the time in the car so it's getting charged and I hardly ever use the wireless charging feature.

I believe the issue is since the IPhone 12 models have the MagSafe charging which is a metal ring in the back of the phone, the wireless charging pad senses that “metal” and shuts off the charging. There’s a sticker on the charging pad that talks about metal between the phone and charging pad etc. My guess is the fix is to someone tell the charging pad to “ignore” the metal ring in the IPhone 12’s if that’s possible.

My iPhone X, which didn't have MagSafe, wasn't the best in my 2019 TLX so I'm not sure that's the only issue. But I prefer hard wired for Apple CarPlay so I'm not concerned.
