Wait for the S, it will be worth it. Perhaps, get a beater to get by. You will regret getting the Aspec and will eventually trade it in at a loss. Yes, Acura is having delays but they will come through. The market is not going to recover for a long time. Few months will pass quick.
and this is what I’m leaning towards, I thought about copping a beater Acura like a 3G TL or 2G TL for the time being, give or take I should only be waiting 2-3 months for a Type-S from this point. So it’s not too bad
Man, things in the car world are really messed up, bad!! So, my dealer has an ordered Type S on the way in...time since order....8 mos. I looked at my white/red one. IF it
arrives 3rd week of May..guess what...8 mos. from time of order! My dealer is so frustrated, but, nothing he can do.
So, I had a long talk with my Lexus dealer on the LC500. Well, bottom line, I can forget that one. Lexus has just "hit the wall" on vehicles available, etc. Toyota was doing pretty well, but,
now it's a mess. No '22's can be ordered. Their allocations for ANY Lexus has been cut to nearly nothing. Most LC's are convertibles...about 75%. Crazy. I was starting to get excited
about MAYBE securing an LC 500 cpe, in Aztec Silver with Toasted Caramel int. Amazing machine! But, that's not happening...it appears. And this dealer MSRP, no price hikes.
Another example....again, Corvette production line..both shifts...shut down for at least a week. This isn't their first time. Prices are through the roof.
IF my Type S can be confirmed that it will be built, I will take it. But, Acura only tells them....build dates. My Mgr. will try and push the Reg/Dist. Sales Mgr to find out on my
order. We'll see. Now, IF I get lucky on the LC 500...I'll take it, but, I don't see that happening. They now are in worse shape it seems than Acura.
wait for the type s if you can. But play around the build functions on the Acura website I ordered mine and out of nowhere someone got a white on red with perf tires called them up and basically they said car is yours if you want it. Funny thing my order was “built” the very next day lol

ya people back out of orders last minute all the time. call all the dealers within driving distance around you tell them what you want, and tell them to call you if they get someone backing out. Acura production seems to have actually picked up substantially (based on my dealership anyway). From November to february the lot was barren, then a week ago bam, half of their lot filled up. Almost all of them have sold signs in the windows but at least there are physical vehicles there.
I'm glad I got my type S when i did! This would have been a rough time for me if I didn't. The car has brought me a lot of happiness so if there is anyone waiting for one just be patient i guess! Your time will come.

Seems the people that got in early at msrp or not much more made out. Who would have guessed the situation would just continue to worsen. Reports of a Honda dealer here charging over msrp for everything plus 800 doc fee and 600 for nitrogen tire air non-negotiable, even on used cars. They have also tried to get people to pay 3k or more over the buyouts on leases to keep their cars along with another 800 doc fee on the purchase at the end of the lease. They are a shady operation though.

True but there is still MSRP deals to be had for Acuras gotta really find the right dealerships, right now I'm gonna start shopping around my inquiry see who is getting what. Also got someone who's offering me their Type-S for $54k but it isn't my first color choice and it already has some miles on it lol but its an option if all else fails and I don't wanna wait any longer.
It took 5-6 months but it's finally here! Was worth the wait! Black chrome emblems still on back order though and getting installed later.
Congrats! Beautiful car....It wouldn't be wrong to say that the TLX TYPE S is one of the best looking car in the market and in its segment. The presence of the car makes you feel that the Type S is in 5 Series and E class rather than 3 series and C Class. Acura nailed it. Enjoy!

Agreed. I initially went with a 2021 A-Spec SH-AWD since it was so close to the Type-S (and a big upgrade over my 3G TL), there were amazing incentives available, the Type-S kept getting delayed, and the dealer couldn't provide a firm delivery month (much less date). But (ironically) as I became more and more impressed with the A-Spec the more and more I wished that it had the engine to truly take advantage of the excellent platform...so with the used car market tightening incredibly I was able to trade in my car for a slight profit just months later and ended up getting a '22 Type-S.

Yep agreed. I thought my roughly eight week wait from to deposit to delivery was long, but it's nothing compared to some of the crazy wait times I'm seeing now.
Agree I usually finance through the brands captive finance operation like you. That said a lot of buyers don't qualify for manufacture subsidized loans. Those buyer all go into the dealers secondary market with banks & finance companies that will lend to a higher risk borrower. Fine print on most adds for special deals usually say "for well qualified buyers".
I used the word "auctioned" as the dealer picking the institution he would put the loans with based on the best deal the banks/finance companies he does business with will give him. Then the paper will be bundled by the bank/finance company as you described.
This is the exact reason why dealers want the financing part. The lower the credit score the more money that make with the higher rate due to default risk. A few years back with you could with good credit and get .9 or 1.9 financing with great credit are pretty much history. One year T-Bills are right around 1.7% and 2yr treasuries are hitting 2.5% plus and rising.. No reason for a dealer financing company to offer lower than a risk free rate that treasury notes pay. Car loan rates like prices are going to continue up for at least a year or more Credit unions are often the best deals these days if you are financing and have access. It's a shite state of affairs these day.

One piece of advice, hand wash it or go to a brushless car wash. The color is great but the micro scratches will drive you crazy. Really the sharpest color but a tough one to keep pristine.

Well worth getting a ceramic paint protection. It's kept mine looking great!
I emailed a local Acura dealer on the Thursday before last, because their website showed they had 2 Type S (both gray with black interior) in stock. Set up an appointment to come in that Saturday to test drive 1 of them, but the sales rep emailed me Friday and said they both sold ☹️
Found one at another local dealer on Saturday and just went there since it was close by anyway. Ended up trading in my 21 TLX A-Spec and driving away in a white 2022 Type S with red interior 😁
Only have about 120 miles on it so far, but loving it! It fixes the few complaints I had about my 21, those being engine sound (the 4 cylinder did not sound great, but then very few of them do) and power.
Getting paint corrected and ceramic coated this week 😁
My build week just changed..again, 7th time. ORIGINAL build week was first week of Feb. As of yesterday its now 5/10-5/14.
There are 2 on the train now, one is cust. ordered, so is the other...BUT he cancelled. So, the black/red one will be avail...well as of
yesterday. There are a few on the "wait list" that my grab it. Don't know. IF it were white/red....I would be taking it. I do believe
mine will eventually get made, but, 7 date changes is stressful. By the time I get it, IF it builds on the new week, will be a full 8
mos. and ready to push in to 9 mos from time it was ordered.

this and one other reason is why I just bowed out and pulled my deposit for the Type-S… as much as I want the Type-S the build delays and sparse availability was not gonna work for me any longer (especially after my previous TLX was totaled)
I did the next best thing and just bought me well taken care of 2019 TLX A-Spec SH-AWD it’s not a Type-S but its still faster than your average civilian sedan and the AWD is amazing!

I had one in white/red and REALLY liked it. Great driver, very quick, and yes, it handled!! Good job finding it. I miss that size...the way it looked, etc.
Should have kept it longer than I did.
Hey guys, Duval Acura here in Jacksonville, FL provided me with my Type S VIN and approx. delivery date of May 15th. I called the other day and they said the ETA is now pending. What I would like to know is if my Type S is already built and just waiting on transportation to be delivered from Ohio to FL or if it's still in the build process. Thank you in advance.

If a VIN has been assigned, the vehicle is already built.
Thank you for the quick reply guys. Dealer told me that the Type S will arrive sometime next week during the weekday. I ordered the Apex Blue with Ebony interior.
