Type S Front Plate!

Hi all,

Is anyone on here running a front license plate on their Type S? I currently have one on, but I've noticed that it covers half of my intercooler! I like the look without it much better, but the cops around me stop cars all of the time for no front plate.

I am seriously thinking about purchasing some bumper plugs though and giving the no plate a try. Is anyone else doing this with minimal issues from the police?

Looks like the 2G TLX doesn't have a front tow hook like the 1G TLX. Bummer.

In the 20yrs I've had running without a plate on my GTO, I've gotten two tickets for no front plate. Once I was actually pulled over. The other was at a DWI checkpoint. If you drive around with ultra-dark window tint, music blasting, bunch of aftermarket lights and/or racing around like an a-hole, the cops are definitely going to notice you. If not, they usually don't care too much.

Are you in California? If so, I am too and I requested to not have the front plate installed on my TLX-S when I purchased it. I’ve had my TLX-S since Sept of 21’ and have yet to get pulled over. Although I know it’s an easy excuse to get pulled over, I decided to roll the dice and take the risk!

I think I’m going to get some bumper plugs and give it a try. It’s an easy fix if I do get stopped. Normally, I wouldn’t care, but it seriously covers 90% of the intercooler!

I agree, not only does the front plate look ugly, it blocks the Intercooler. Get those plugs installed and call it a day.

I’d go without if I legally could but my car already stands out as it is. I’m not trying to draw more attention to myself. It’s not so bad as I have plates that I actually like though. If I had the standard plates I’d be annoyed

caLiTLX - I was on your path here in South Orange County Kalifornia …. Till I got pulled over for no front plate at 9:15 am, about 700 miles into ownership. Fortunately they officers were friendly and I didn’t have to “make amends” with the State.

Got chewed out by the wife when I got home and added the front plate. Went with the CA old school plates (dark brown with yellow letters) on my Black Black TLX Type-S and don’t really notice the plate. Added a standard CA front plate to my Silver MDX Type-S and don’t really notice that one either.

My $0.02 - better to be compliant than get pulled over for something silly after a beer or two.

There's not much Acura can do w/the front plate location but I really hope they find some way to change the front radar dish (Acura symbol) for the refresh!

From the looks of the MMC spyshots, it looks like the TLX is adopting the Acura dish over the plate ... unless they just used it because it was a leftover in the parts bin and they just tacked it on there, though I doubt that's the case.

TLX has an amazing road presence. People spot it from far, far way! So, do whatever you have to do that's legal and clear. Don't get a ticket TYPE S road presence puts M3, C63S and RS5 to shame!

No front plate on my TLX Type-S I took it off once my hard tags came in. Looks much nicer haven’t been stopped for it yet (knock on wood) though from what I read legally where I live they can’t stop you for it as a primary offense.
