Type S front lip replacement!

Hey guys,

Well, that didn't take long, my wife pulled up too far at Starbucks and hit the curb. The spoiler lip has some damage, and I'm assuming it will need to be replaced. Does anyone know what replacement cost is, and how hard it is to remove/install a new one?

Ugh! Thanks, Acura for putting a front camera on the US models!

I scraped my wheel and splitter in a Wendy’s drive thru when I got my car. Ever since that day I avoid any tight drive thrus and just go inside.

Anyways, I had mine replaced. I asked my body shop that repaired my car from being rear ended for pricing beforehand. I may be slightly off on pricing but it was around $310 to repair and $350 to replace. I decided to replace it.

I don’t think it’s difficult to replace but I’m not certain. Dealership would have cost more obviously.

You can also check with your local dealer for pricing. I believe the bumper has to come off first.

This couldn't be better timing. This morning I parked and got within an inch of the curb and it's only a matter of time before I scrape mine. What I do like is that it tapers up gradually so if you barely get a curb, it will just be bottom side scratches. Now the tall curbs, it doesn't stand a chance and I try and feet a foot back haha.

Unfortunately, our cars have a long wheelbase and a big turning circle, we just have to be extra careful when navigating through tight spaces.

Yes, this car is very difficult to navigate at first! I am getting much better at it though. Just upsets me that I already have to replace a part on the car, but what can you do?

I'm not sure if any of you would know, but how far away from a parking curb when the sensors start beeping? Does the "solid red" mean that you hit something, or is it just a warning that you are about to?

Good luck, man!

This is why I stick to SUVs now. I really don't think about scraping the front of the car on those parking bumpers anymore.
Come to think of it, not scraping the bottom of the car against my driveway when backing out in the morning is pretty nice too!

I do miss the SUV, to be honest... and my lower BACK really misses the SUV! I've wrenched my back several times trying to get out of the car in tight parking spots already!

If the RDX comes out with a Type S model, I will be switching back to an SUV for sure!

Yep, it's certainly easy to forget . I damaged by side spoiler by a slightly higher than normal curb during a turn in a parking lot :-(

What did you pay to replace it?

I just ordered some touch-up paint. There's no point in replacing it just prior to winter, so I'll do it in the spring unless I end up moving back into an SUV before then.

About $350. It was going to cost 305 to repair it so I said why not.

I had Brand Motion's curb alert installed and it works great. You can set the distance you want and it will give you three beeps when you are within that distance to the curb. It works great so far, they also have a camera but it did not tie into the car's display and I would have to add another screen which I decided against. You still have to be careful when angle parking to the curb, I have to adjust it to give it a little more distance. I really like it so far, it is small and hardly noticeable.
