Not trying to offend or be toxic, love that word, just a very clear demo of AWD vs RWD in a high horsepower car. In the first meeting the Quattro kicked the M4C's butt. Launched & was gone. Since then the "IX" AWD version has been released. What is surprising is how well they both did vs the Godzilla a perineal 0-60 & 1/4 mile car.

Having cake & eating it too. The M4 can totally disengage the front wheels & be driven as a RWD car with just the weight penalty of the AWD hardware.
The GT-R is getting pretty old, but I'm happy to see how relevant Nissan has kept it in terms of performance over the years. Still an absolute beast! I wonder how the result would've worked out if it had more grip off the line as I noticed a lot of (what I assume to be) tire smoke in the first race. Didn't get as good of a view for the second race from a dig.
I think it's awesome that the M4C basically lets you choose between AWD and RWD! Wish I had that option when I had my 335. I think someone found you could remove a fuse to make xDrive basically RWD, but then your dash would be lit up like a Christmas tree .
Also, Throttle House is awesome. They're one of my favorite YouTube car review/entertainment channels!
As for the topic at hand: Man, I'm seeing a lot of grim news about the supply chain. I'm glad I got my TLX when I did as it also got me a nice valuation on my trade-in though I'm sure the price of my TLX wasn't as low as it could've been. I hope everyone who has a car on order gets theirs sooner rather than later! I'm enjoying the TLX for what it is on its own merits. Sure, others in its segment are better in some ways, but even then I appreciate the car for what it is and when I considered all of my own personal requirements, the TLX seemed to fit the bill the best. I actually weirdly enjoy its boatiness sometimes hahah. There was something cozy about driving around in a lumbering 3-row SUV with the heat on in the dead of winter that I really enjoyed when I had a Mazda CX-9. I have a feeling the TLX will deliver on this too.
Recently put a deposit down on a Type-S coming in at the end of October/early November with my preferred Acura dealer, however the only hurdle is that there is one guy in front of me with a deposit on it. So here’s hoping he doesn’t buy so I can. Really would like to continue my good relationship with this dealership and get my Type-S from them.
However I already located and inquired about another Type-S at a dealer a few hours away who has my preferred exterior and interior color combo. just a backup plan as I don’t really wanna wait for one to be built and play the waiting game for it.
Might even see if the sales manager or general manager is willing to do a dealer trade with them so I don’t have to do business with another dealership.
oddly enough my preferred dealer refuses to sell the demo model as it’s main use is for those interested in getting a Type-S to test drive one before being sure about putting in a deposit. I found that pretty redeeming about them

I actually just did that today. Found my trim/colors at a dealership about 3 hours away. Asked my dealer if they could do a trade. Getting back to me tomorrow.

I might just do the same, my salesman told me there was no other type-s models that doesn’t have a deposit on it in my immediate area available but I told him I’d do some digging. May call him on Friday and see what’s possible about a dealer trade.

Supply chain thing will just get worse. Ports are tied up, no trucks to move the stuff inland. Fuel prices going up. Cost of products going up & the ex-Mayor of South Bend Indiana is supposed to fix it. I remember back around Feb 2021 I said gas would be around $4.00 a gallon & crude oil $100 a barrel by years end if US production got cut. Got a barrage of from the resident experts. So US production got cut & it looks like they were right, well sort of. End of the year was incorrect I should have said early 4th quarter.
Today filled up for a return run from the beach. 93 was $4.00+ a gallon. regular around $3.50 at a Lowes station. NC typically has low state wide gas prices. The car being build was held up a week in the factory waiting on radio parts. Finally got released today.

Update: checked inventory on Acura's website and it shows 2 TLX-S's in transit to my salesman's dealership, not sure if I that means me and the other guy in front of me with a deposit is gonna each have our own TEP Type-S or something else. Though I have a feeling it's the former and Acura was able to get 2 TEP TLX-S's to my dealer. Hopefully they'll be here by the end of this month.
Well, my order got cancelled but found a dealer loaner with 1500 miles about 2 hours away with SH-AWD and picked it up the other day. Loving it so far! Not the modern steel, but think the silver with the black wheels contrast well and plan on getting a tint next week.
I asked my sales guy if they were getting any cars to sell and he told me:
"hey Mike...Hope you are well and glad your liking the TLX. Look forward to seeing you soon. We're doing the best we can and it seems like things may be getting better as far as getting cars. Stay well and drive safely!"
So - reading between the lines - he doesn't really know. The auto industry is a real mess right now.
I ended up finding out neither of those incoming Type-S’s were mine as they was already pre-purchased by previous buyers with deposits down…. So my salesman is gonna place an order for a 2022 for me same color and interior too. He told me I probably won’t see my Type-S until early January at the earliest.
But he did tell me that the factory is beginning to send out (Atleast to my dealer) 2022 TLXs now, no word on what is changed or different from 2021 TLXs though.
I s/w my sales consultant, indicating that I'm 'casually' mulling over swapping the A-spec for a Type S ideally in Performance Red. He indicated that he had one coming mid Jan as well.

Better put your money down or it will be gone before it gets there. One of the things I like is the Acura Red. BMW's red in the Z4 looked like Campbell's tomato soup so I got Sapphire Black. Would have loved to have a red one. Mazda also had a great true red tri coat, my granddaughters CX-5 is that color.
I’m sorry to see that the wait, for many, continues. Supply chain issues are a pain.
yeah but it makes the day I get it all the more sweeter!
I don’t mind the waiting more time to save more cash. Also in the meantime I’ll just drive my ‘16 TLX V6 around in Sport mode pretending it’s a Type-S until then.

If my dealership had one on the lot when I got my A-SPEC I'm pretty sure I'd be driving one today.
You're on a slippery slope my friend! Have you contacted Carvana about your car yet?
Im so on the fence with this. On the one hand, my A-Spec with its stage 3 tune will likely outrun the Type S in a straight line and it’s aesthetics are pretty much the same. On the other hand: Type S, braking, handling, quick shifting 10AT, SH-AWD, and variable exhaust (with burbles) makes it extremely appealing.

Looks like your mind has already made up. Life is short, my friend. Just go for it.
You can build a 2022 TLX Type S on Acura, com and they are showing vehicles in transit to dealers and price increased $500.
I can guarantee you that almost ALL of the "in transit" Type S's are customer order cars. My dealer is a big one...and there is a list. I'm on it...and they get
allocations from Acura once a month, and there are only a handful given. 3 buyers are ahead of me, and there are 4 after me. NO units for the dealership.
ALL are pre ordered....as I did mine.
Yes, the did up the Type S by $500. Most all cars get a yearly bump.
I have a ‘21 Modern Steel Metallic/Ebony ASPEC on order from a local dealer and was told the build date is set for early November. Anyone see those wait times moved up? It’s not so much I have to have the car now, but I’m worried about driving my trade around and it losing value.
Thanks!
Well there you go. I was told my Tigereye with orchid interior type S was delayed until at least December 7. Today I get a call from the dealer that they have a Tigereye with black interior ordered for another customer the customer decided not to buy the car do I want it. Not only that but the general manager tells me that Acura canceled loads of cars for 2021 those cars are gonna be built the 2022 models probably arriving next spring. So of course I took the car
I finally got a build schedule for the M550 i ordered to replace my Type-S: Jan 9 - 15 2022! With shipping to the US I likely won't see it until mid February next year.
I placed an order with Columbia Acura for a white with red interior from Columbia Acura in Ohio back in July. It was supposed to be built October 18 but as of last week I still haven't heard from my salesman. Got a call from a dealer here in TX for the exact model I wanted this past Friday and I picked up my car this past Saturday. If anyone is looking for a white Type S then maybe give Columbia Acura a call and see if my allotment is for sale.

..or you can just request that they not apply the dealer logo at the time of prep (which I didn’t do). Most will readily comply.
This is accurate. My dealer doesn’t apply the decals but if they did I wouldn’t allow it to stay on my car. I don’t even allow their dealership branded plate frames.

For the most part this is true. I also ordered mine ahead of time and was notified the moment they got the shipment notice. They’ve not seen many of any Type S recently, at least not in Apex Blue, so I’m fortunate to have what I wanted.

If they’re anything like me they’ll try and talk themselves out of doing something and then within the month do it anyway. I didn’t do that with the Type S as I wanted it from the very moment it was announced but I’ve done it for other things.
