Test drove a TLX Tech

In the current used car market, that modified bumper may not make a difference in terms of value. Couple that with the scores of unintentional car buyers looking to replace vehicles lost in the Northeast flooding (which turned out to be fairly catastrophic) and, I think you'll get what you're asking for in terms of value. Just a matter getting a good deal on your own replacement vehicle.

Well I went back to the dealership with the wife to test drive a TLX Tech.
Needless to say she was not impressed….
”Why would you buy this when the RDX is basically the same price?”
She felt the TLX was too harsh and too loud. I have to admit the road noise was very noticeable on this test drive.
We tried out a RDX Advance and she was sold on it. It looks boring but it does drive nice. But with the 2022 coming out I’d rather wait.
So I’m on the fence now….

Based on what I've read, the sound system on the TLX will actually sound better compared to the RDX due to a smaller sound-controlled cabin and dual subwoofers (RDX doesn't have this).

The salesman basically told me all three TLX trims drive the same. He didn’t even try to upsell me on the Advance.
He said the lower profile rims make the ride harsh so the RDX Advance wheels make all the difference. It’s just so boring looking.

If I were to get a TLX is would be an ASpec but none available to test drive. They only have a showroom model.

I didn't drive an Advance as there were none at the dealership - but it's my understanding the adaptive dampers make a difference - I believe they also have different windows with more acoustic treatment. All that said - the sales person is probably correct - those tires are likely the culprit for most of the stiffness/noise if I had to guess.

I was all set to get the MSM until I saw the A-SPEC in person and it was too much grey for me. It looked sharp but when I saw the white A-SPEC (I wasn't going to get another white car) I thought the contrast with the grey wheels and black trim looked super sharp. With the limited inventory it's not so easy to get exactly what you want these days.

I would agree with this. I have an Advance, it does ride a bit quieter but it’s still noisy on some surfaces. If I bought the car rather than leasing I’d be looking into additional soundproofing and quieter riding tires.

The Tech Pkg SH-AWD didnt stack up well against the M340i xDrive. Could probably file that under 'foregone conclusion.'
