Kill Switch

Anyone here every thought or have installed a kill switch on there TLX? Since there's been a handful of stolen TLX going on. Just wanted to add another layer of protection. Just want to see the pros and cons of what type of kill switch are good out there. I saw this one on the web:

100 bucks for some wire and a switch is robbery.. if you’re really interested, just wire up a switch to your starter relay .

wire a few switches for safety, pick any of the following or use as a guide. pretty much follow them back from the item in the fuse block and hide the wires that lead to your switch inside the car. You don't want to add the switch close to the fusebox, it'll be easy to see/bypass.

1. Fuel Pump Fuse/Relay
2. Ignition Coil Fuse
3. Injector Fuse

Is it just a function of social media or is there a major uptick in the number of 2G TLXs being stolen? When this thread started, the thefts didn't seem as prevalent as it's become.

My insurance company contacted me stating the TLX Type S was deemed a "high-theft risk" and there will be a $500 per year surcharge starting 2025 if I don't get an approved tracking device installed. They said trackers like AcuraLink & Apple Air Tag are not approved as sufficient tracking devices.
They did say however that Acura Plus Locate is approved so that's what I had installed. The service advisor at Acura said pretty much all the Canadian insurance companies are doing this for the TLX Type S...

I'm probably in the minority, but this seems like such a hack way to protect your investment. Personally, I went the IGLA route.

Wouldn’t be surprised if this device did more than just track your car. Probably reports your driving habits to your insurance co. as well.

My insurance agent specifically said it does not. The tracking is only activated after you report the car stolen to the police and contact Acura Plus Locate.
