Is the hype over?
The forum took a dive in activity. Rarely any talk about the Type S or TLX in general. Did the hype die off? We waited 12 years for the Type S to return and it seems like it was over before it even started.

I’m too busy enjoying my Type S to spend all day here.
generally the hype leads to the launch and dies down afterwards. This is likely because those hyped for it, like myself, now have one in our possession

I think it's because many of us are still waiting to get their Type S. Myself included.

Don’t most car forums slow down a bit this time of year? I just put winter tires on last week and since then have been visiting here much less. Something about not really being able to drive as enthusiastically with the soft tires, and also knowing if a tune or whatever came out now, I couldn’t even take advantage of it until Spring.

6G TLX-S
The main reasons for lack of activity are because (1) most car bashers have left this forum (thanks to the forum modulators), and (2) the real numbers are in with the availability of the physical cars.
If you go back to review all the previous activities, they are mostly about arguments on TLX vs Audi/BMW/Hyundai/etc. vehicles, and about guesswork on (especially the performance numbers for) the Type-S trim, and rarely about constructive topics such as problems, fixes, reviews, test results, improvements, driving experiences, mods, and reports on trying out new products. Previously, even benign topic threads would usually get hijacked and ended up as TLX vs European cars again and again, which should only belong in "Car Talks" or "2021 Acura TLX vs The Competition" sub-forums. Sigh!
So activities = yes, entertainment value = yes, but usefulness = NO.
Now with the real Type-S numbers all nailed down and the forum mods start deleting toxic posts. Although what we end up now is little activity, but when you see new posts, they are useful and informative, which is the original intention for all these automotive forums.
Our forum administrator, Steven Bell, has created a thread on customizing his A-spec. This is what I mean useful posts.
Sales is slow - due to chip shortage and supply chain problems. Lots of TLX buyers are still waiting for their cars to arrive. As the TLX population grows, we should be able to have more constructive activity soon.

Yeah, I've noticed things are pretty quiet around here and another TLX forum I visit regularly but thankfully not totally dead at least. I'm used to Bimmerpost, Golf MK5/6/7, or NASIOC where there seemed to be new posts pretty much every time I refresh my browser, but I understand too that this is a relatively new refreshed model coming at a tough time with all that's going on in the world.
I hope we'll see more owners and discussions around here before long though! I've always enjoyed being part of an online forum/community of owners for the cars I've had.

I think the lack of aftermarket support thus far also has slowed the posts. A lot of forum posts tend to be how to repair, or improve a car and despite some peoples complaints there have really been very few major issues with these cars so far. Yes, some people have had the infotainment/speaker connector issue, but most of the vehicles affected by this seem to have had the issue resolved, and the mirror lights, but this is really just an annoyance at best, they could be out on my car and i would have literally no idea. So the car has limited issues and limited after market support so not much to talk about on here except how good the car looks and drives.
i really hope that some aftermarket development takes off here shortly. Seeing the success of the down pipe from Hondamobilemechanic on youtube makes me very eager to get one, but his was a one off. He has a down pipe and slightly bored out throttle body and knocked a second off the quarter mile time (although colder temps probably also helped). 4.5 0-60 and 12.78 quarter mile are massive gains for very little money but no one wants our money yet. Id love to hear more intake noise but nothing is offered for an intake yet either. Once companies start releasing this stuff and taking our money there will be a lot more activity here

Thanks GOD it cooled down. We need people to share their experience, help other members and not bash all the and night Acura. I understand this is a forum and everyone has the right to express their point of view. But for God sake, last few months were just toxic this place. Less people but better content is what we need here.

Totally, and I can confirm that some of the very good members that have been here for years avoid posting. I exchanged private messages with a few and they were just disappointed with the negativity and all the time being attacked. Imagine how the new members felt??? lol

Fortunately mod's have stepped in and keep a more civil tone in the forum.

I know someone who purchased an A-Spec and he refused to join this forum due to lack of good content and every topics turns to audi conversations. He said there is no point.
let’s hope for better days to come

According to Automotive News Acura only built 303 TLX vehicles (likely most if not entirely Type S) in September so with a lack of inventory to sell it is not surprising that there has been a bit less activity here.

The hype will come back once Acura introduces the A-Spec Advance trim like they're doing for the '22 RDX.

I can’t speak for other regions, but in Montréal I passed by two Acura dealers and both have no inventory. On the showroom floor, there are two TLX. I couldn’t believe that. I know the demand for MDX and RDX is crazy. But i think Acura is cutting the ILX production and getting ready for the Integra as there is no ILX in the picture.
Also the dealers’ lot are pretty much empty. From my own experience, in June/July, there were 18 used MDX (2019-2020) for sales. Today, we have 7 in Montréal region. It’s not just Acura but all manufacturers are struggling.

Most likely. Time between release hype & regular production is going to be way to long to sustain any kind of hype unless they alter the product & get something "new". Think you will see the other brands sitting on the "new" until the production delays are over. Outside of the M4C convertible there are no "new" products coming through.
My dealers lot & showroom are empty. As cars come in they are already sold so they are delivered to the buyers. No chance at building inventory.
Have an excellent tracker for the car from order signing to delivery. Also a very active M3/4 forum. Common items among the guys are cars a coming through very slowly with similar hold points in production waiting for parts. The M4C is now on the dock in Germany sans radio along with a bunch of other ones.
Don't know if they will ship it for a US install or hold it for a local install when one shows up. Dealer says Nov 19 delivery but if it does not make the next boat that is not happing. Charleston SC BMW docks have a mega upgrade & country optional equipment instillation facility so they could ship & install the radio there.
Outside of the M4C convertibles there are no "new" products coming through & they are running out of European built stock. X series SUV's are all built in SC for the world. They seem to be in a little better shape than those overseas. But since parts come from all over they are slowing down. Neighbor is looking at next year for his X5.

I don't think it's got anything to do with high demand anymore. Even the two local Cadillac dealers by me are barren. I can't wait for this crap to be over ...

Wow - I have to say I think the Tiger Eye looks best in the evening with muted lighting! I'm just a wee bit envious of you Type S blokes.

Honestly, the only upside to having TEP TLX is that folks automatically know that it’s a Type S and not an A-Spec. Other than that, it’s an acquired taste.

Car Crazy for Sure!
Yes, it's sad......most all dealers have empty lots, and it was a headline in my newspaper. Shortages are happening with many types of parts. Aluminum, tires, chips, etc, etc.
The list is growing longer...so thus, the manufacturers can't build cars....and too many people blame them....not their fault! The Dealer's Assoc. in my state feel it will take months to
catch up to just what's been ordered...and then this whole issue continue for longer....with those ordering more...while they are trying to catch up. They feel we won't see "normal" for
at least in to 2023.
Parent's won't be able to buy the toys their kids want due to shipping delays, etc. The whole system is at an almost standstill. VERY close to it.

I'm excited now more than earlier...for me...to have finally settled on the fact that I want a TLX Type S. It will be my 10th Acura from the same dealer, and he said there are 3 ahead
of me. The 2nd Monday in Nov. he should know how many allocations he will get. If not enough to fill those 3 then I have to hope for Dec. or Jan. But, I can settle down now and
have the patience to wait, 'cause I know I'll be getting a pretty cool sports sedan. I'm putting Vossen HF-1's on it. Dealer will buy the wheels/tires off of it from factory.
It will be fun again, sharing with everyone here all our experiences....good and bad...and learning new things maybe we didn't know about our new rides.

Thank you!! It will be nice to have fun again...sharing, learning, and contributing the knowledge that collectively we all have that is certainly greater than any one person.

I agree it's gonna be fun to learn the ins and outs of the Type-S and sharing our individual experiences with each other over the course of ownership!
