A/C problems

Hi all!

2025 TLX-S here, from Canada. Bought the car end of January. It was cold, so did not use the A/C until a couple of weeks ago. Had no A/C on a hot day, air was blowing as hot as outside.

Went to the dealer. They said that freon was low, probably not filled fully at the plant. Got the car back, A/C was working, air was super cold.

Then today, got a big thunderstorm, so closed all windows and put A/C on. Air was hot again...no more A/C.

Will drop the car at the dealer again tomorrow morning.

Anyone else having problems with A/C?

Sounds like you have a refrigerant leak. Dealer should put a leak detection dye in when they recharge it again and it should help identify if and where you have the leak. I had this happen with a brand new heat pump/AC unit we had with out house in VA. HVAC contractor that installed the unit came out three years in a row to find low refrigerant so they refilled twice. The tech that came out the third time spent some time trying to figure out why. Ultimately found a leak which he said was there from the factory, ordered a new part and got it covered all under warranty (had already expired.)
If dealer just refills/recharges your system, I would ask that they add the dye.

I had a very similar issue with a '23 TLX-S PMC. They put dye in the first time they recharged the system. The next time it didn't work they claim they found a leak and replaced a couple of parts. Leaked out again. This time it ended up being the Schrader Valve on one of the charging hose connections. Replaced both Schrader Valves and problem solved.

Just wanted to be check if there were some known issues about the A/C.

Still waiting for the dealer to know what is going on.

So, finally, they recharged the system, could not find a leak. Added dye this time. Will go back in 3 weeks to follow up. Hope they'll find something and correct the problem for good.

Sounds like a potential leak is in a place that is not easily inspected visually, evaporator area maybe or possibly Schrader Valve if they didn't check there.

Well, this time, they fond a hose that needs to be replaced. But part is not coming in for a month, maybe more.

I'm pissed that they can't do better for a car that costed much to buy! I'm trying to find if they can do something, like a long time loaner... Summer will almost be over when repaired, and I don't really want to be stuck in super high heat in traffic with no A/C in a brand new car!

Normally dealers work with enterprise to get you a rental, at least that was the case with my car's and acura & BMW in orlando FL and Jacksonville FL. I paid with a amex so I got the free insurance and didn't have to pay anything unless I wanted to upgrade to a larger car/SUV. Otherwise acura/bmw always had a loaner fleet available if an appt was scheduled. If they aren't giving you anything and you have the car financed, sometimes they will waive a payment (at least BMW did for me once) when the car was in the shop for nearly a month.

Well, they won't do nothing for me.

I even found the hose in the US, offered to order it so they could install it next week. They didn't even agree to that.

I'll complain to Acura Canada, but hey, they'll probably do nothing too! Why bother about customers?

They got the part today, finally. Car is going in Monday. Hope that was the only issue. Told them to add the dye by default as I don't want to go again 2 times if there is still a leak...
