The back of ...
That moment when you realize the most hyped up Acura in decades looks like an inflated model that's been in production since 2013 and is riding on obsolete Civic platform that's 2 generations behind.

When did the ILX get dual exhaust tips? I thought it was just a single pea-shooter on one side, even in A-Spec guise. Is this a new thing?

Got a little bored so I thought I'd try to photoshop (very badly) a 2019 ILX with dual exhausts.
What do you guys think?
For those wondering, from what I've read here and there, dual exhausts aren't too easy to do on the 9th gen Civic chassis because of the fuel tank location. Not saying it's entirely impossible though, in fact I could be completely wrong.

100%. Makes it look on the level of a Dodge Neon. Nicer overall, but that one crappy looking tip really cheapens the look of the car substantially

Minus the CTR ... that thing looks like they put a dozen children in a room and let them "have at it" and actually went with the design. It's a great performing machine, but the styling alone is the reason I'll never own that car. Same goes for the STi ... I was strongly considering the Golf R, but the carbon issues, tho varying in severity, were enough to keep me away. That's just me though.

58-60 year old's
which has always been Acura's sport sedans target demographic. so, no. I wont be surprised.
I'm saying; the little old ladies who purchase the ILX dont care about dual exhaust or single, or even if the exhaust protrudes out of the bumper.

Lol Yes I see it now. Do you plan on upgrading anytime soon? I'm waiting on paying off my 4G which is in 2 and half years. I owe 7k left on my auto loan. Got the car for 18k in 2016 which was a great deal for a technology package.
#27
fuck no, my car is paid off. been paid for since 2013. I have absolutely no reason to "upgrade" especially since new cars are upwards of $40k. I simply do not make enough money to ever afford a $40k+ vehicle.
a $40k+ car is something that you do if you have a net worth of a couple million and making $400,000 a year.
yet, common folk buy $40k+ all the time.. because monthly payments are "manageable" .....great way to be car/truck poor
I bought my 2006 TL in 2010 at $23k with TTL. I put $5k down which left me $18k to finance. Paid it off in 3 years.

right, i'm just being way overzealous in estimates.
but to be honest; who doesnt have other debts? scary to think about the families that carry credit card debt along with school loans

But you're right, unless you do make a large amount it just makes no sense to spend all that money on something like a car. Yes it's relative but I was reading the BMW forums and seeing people writing checks for $70,000 for a 3 series. It makes me scratch my head. Unless they are millionaires of course.

And if you ask a question and commit a God sin of not saying your location and zip code, he'll reply with this: """""WELL NO ONE CAN HELP YOU WITH TIRES SINCE WE DON'T KNOW WHERE YOU LIVE. ARE YOU IN THE FROZEN TUNDRA OF THE RUSSIAN ANNEXED CRIMEA IN UKRAINE - WE DON'T KNOW AND CAN'T HELP YOU""""
He is a mental case.

lol you don't need to make that much for a 40K car. If you make $120,000 that's $10,000 a month or probably $6800 brought home after taxes. Unless you're in a bunch of debt that's more than enough to afford that. Personally I would never purchase a Car over 40,000. I'd rather lease it and use the extra money for something else.

Lol Thank you. I could pay this car off but I don't want to wipe out half of my savings. I pay $261 a month I rather stick with it.

In light of other responses regarding getting a car that is $40k etc. - great safe financial perspective on "who buys 40k brand new car" (i.e. 2mil net worth and annual salary of 400k).
I paid my 06 RL with 67k otd 24k (minus trade in of 6k) - 18k-ish balance... in 2011 paid off... invested about $5000-6000 (including two timing belt services already) - and it is still going...
In 2016 we bought '13 TL for wife was paid 22k otd with 43k miles and we got an extended Acura Care warranty on (never used so far) ... still going, wife refuses to even speak of a different car how much she likes it...
Point is: this is all fine and dandy - BUT, once you get that monthly 700-800$/mo to go for 4-5-6 years, imagine how much of other things you can accomplish vs wasting it on a car payment ...

I guess it depends on where you live. If rent is $4000 a month, and you plan on having a retirement fund, a $40K car is going to be hard to justify. When I was making that much, I thought I was a baller and splurging when I bought a $30K car, and I didn't even have any student loans or other obligations to pay off. I couldn't even fathom spending more than that without at least $200K in total comp.

Here in Texas (insert typical large city suburb here) ... you can rent a whole 2200 sq.ft house (3-4 bedrooms with 2-car garage) in a nice quiet gated neighborhood for $2000 a month.

Goes to show these cars truly are targeted at older people who can afford them. Thats why they don't really care how fast the 2.0t is. Or of course younger people who are bad with money and only see the 'affordable' monthly payment.
At 18 I was given my grandfathers 1994 buick regal. Drove that car for 10 years and sold it for $1800 in 2017. Ive seen its new owners driving it around as recently as a year ago. Goes to show what a reliable car it actually was. (although it did break down on me a number of times)
This allowed me to save and buy my TL in cash from a dealer auction. Won the auction for $15,100 Canadian dollars. Little did I know it must have gone to auction because it burnt tons of oil. How lucky I am that Acura decided to rebuild the engine for free. Which allowed me to save for the down payment on my house.
Big things almost always have small beginnings. I owe a lot to that 1994 buick regal.
