2025 TLX Type S
2025 TLX Type S
Been driving a TL 2004, and then 2013 TL, this site has been awesome since I found it years and years ago. Time to get a 2025 TLS Type S and NO ONE has any inventory yet. All I find is the A-Spec models in inventory. Does anyone have any good info on when TLX 2025 Type S may start to land with dealers? The two here in Jacksonville, FL have no allocations yet. I can drive to another state if needed to get mine. Looking for Black exterior color. Anyone know a source to get an update on when or how I might get one?

Its actually affecting the used Type-S market as most TLX-Ss with 40k miles or less is floating around $39k - $53k (based on miles, condition and year model)
My Type-S has about 30k miles and still fetches abit over $40k on trade-in
I bought a 2025 type S recently. The production actually started about 3 months ago but it's on demand.
You need to go to an Acura dealership and order one, and Acura will produce it for you. It took about 7-8 weeks before it got delivered to me.

the same day. One new one for my wife...RDX, A-Spec/Adv, our 3rd, and my....2nd....2024 TLX Type S. 12 of the 13 were bought from the same
dealer. Know the GM well. I tried to get a '25...dealer must have an allocation and he didn't. He even tried..."back door methods" and no go.
But, without telling the "back story" he managed to find me a '24 white/red one, just built and wasn't known about...barely. He was able to snag
it and it's in my garage. Without some extra "help" I most likely would not have been able to get one. I didn't want to buy out of state.
To say that all one has to do is walk in a dealer and say you want to order one...and they just do it....Uhhhh...no, doesn't happen that way.
I should know...besides buying 13 new Acuras....I've owned 46 new vehicles and 76 vehicles total in my life.
I got one of the very last 2024's. Acura made approx. only 500 Type S's for '24. And for '25 they MAY not hit that #. And it looks like '25 will be
the last of the TLX's as we know them. I've owned other TLX and TL's....and for sure the Type S, the 2 I've owned, are the best!
So, for those bashing them...and have never owned one or even truly test driven one, then you don't know what you are talking about.
It wasn't made to be "the fastest 4 dr. sports sedan" so, yes, some "rivals" will beat it to the next stop light. So what!! Owning a special model
is not solely based on it's 1/4 mile time, or 0 to 60 times. It's about the overall driving experience, comfort, etc, etc. And the Type S has so much
to offer for a decent price point. No car is perfect. I've always said that. Always "things" I would change or do differently. IF the "good/great list" is
much longer than the "oh crap list"....then it's a car to take a long hard look at. And, yes, I've owned a BMW. M2 to be exact....long story....it just wasn't
"me." The "oh crap list" was longer than the "good/great list" and I sold it after a short time. Couldn't evaluate one prior to buying since the M2 is in short
supply and dealers don't have them for you to truly drive and evaluate. Oh, it was a '24. Yes, Motor Trends Performance Car of the Year for 2024. That it
had...performance!...Anyway...I digress.....that was a first for this car crazy guy.

I could not agree with you more! I have a 23 Type S bought it new and could not be happier with the car. I have had many nice cars in the past but every time I get behind the wheel of this car I feel I made a great choice. I love how this car handles, pulling into a parking lot and not seeing anything like it. Also, whats nice are the compliments I get on the car even when there are a lot of higher priced cars around me.
Not so sure I agree with that statement. I am an Acura Guy...Just bought my 12th and 13th new Acuras. Yes, I bought both and delivered to me on

All what I said was that 2025 TLX type S is a bit special. Most dealers only order them when a buyer showed strong interest or put deposit. That's why you don't see any TLX type S in dealers' inventory for most of the acura dealers.
You don't agree with which of my statement? I don't quite get it.

IF the dealer does not have an allocation then this statement is not true. No disrespect. Just reading your words and knowing what I know. My dealer which has supplied me with
12 Acuras could not get a '25 Type S.
The Reg. Sales Director told my GM...I have none available for you to order. Slim pickins in other words. I only was able to get a '24, one of the very last made....by "special consideration"
by the Reg. Acura Mgr. So, I was even super lucky to get my '24. My GM did not have an allocation. Again...special circumstance for me personally.
Best Wishes...Happy New Year!!
I think he had a 3rd gen type S up until he got the TLX-S so moved off the new type S a lot quicker than the first one. Looks like this is his ride on Carvana:

Maybe the above is not his, it's showing 2 owners on Carfax. How many gold ones are there?

No. That's not my previous Type-S.
While I don’t have any thoughts about how you can obtain a new Type-S, like you are planning, I changed from a 2012 TL SH-AW with performance tires to a 2022 TLX Type-S.
While I really enjoyed the 2012, night and day difference with the 2021. Wired CarPlay issues aside, you are going to love the change. Good luck!

Closing on a new home January 2025. The only bill I want is mortgage and utilities. Selling the car and buying something cash limited my consumer obligations to just a mortgage. Credit cards are paid to $0. Just trying to be fiscally responsible and I've had a Type-S for 3 years. One day I may entertain a last year build.
Sorry, but, you did make a statement...on it's face value is not true. "You need to go to an Acura dealership and order one, and Acura will produce it for you." Not factual.

Then that may differ by regions. I'm in north California. At least around Sept-Oct 2024, when I sent out a query, at least 4-5 dealers replied me by saying they can get one for me. Some of them asked for mark-ups. I ended up picking a dealer without markup.
Around the same time, in south California (LA), there were even a few 24/25 type-S lying in dealers parking lots, without preordered by anyone. I called those south CA dealers and confirmed they were available, because at that time my plan B was to fly to LA and drive one back if pre-ordering plus producing would take too long. I found those cars by visiting truecar website and using "search a new car" feature. Acura website also has the feature of searching new car inventory, but the latter includes cars being preordered by others and in transition to dealership.
Happy new year!
My experience with Acura was poor in Chicagoland. I attempted to "order" a 2024 TLX Type S in Black in Fall of 2023.
I put down the deposit and waited.. and waited.. and waited.
Turns out you cannot order an Acura as you want it. They just get what they get. And my Acura dealer received ZERO Type S models for 2024, they couldn't order squat and they sat on my money.
I got my deposit back, and my only chance at an Acura TLX Type S in black was to go to a dealership 500+ miles away out of state.
I gave up on a TLX Type S and started looking at the 2025 RDX Aspec Advance. Ended up with a 2025 Mazda CX-5 Turbo Signature. No regrets and saved a lot of cash.
The TLX Type S was my dream car, but dreams don't always come true, and the issues and shortcomings were stacked against it - especially since they cut the production on them so severely. Let's face it - the car wasn't that great - it should be easy to obtain. But it wasn't. I shouldn't have to bend over backwards to get a TLX Type S, but that was the case.

It started out as my dream car when it first was released - but the issues with it and negatives as time went on via the owners. I was able to test drive an spec and really loved the handling, but I wanted the top trim, no exceptions. My goal was to purchase what I wanted locally, I was even ready to pay mark up ... I refused to go hundreds of miles out of state to buy a 4 door sports sedan. It's not a Lamborghini.
It looks like all pf the TLX Type S's will be in junkyards in less than 10 years.

Many people cross state lines for a specific vehicle trim or dream car. Sounds like there is more to it. The TLX TYPE S is what it is. Like the 3GTL Type-S it will be a hot ticket 10yrs post production regardless of its shortcomings.
3G Type S prices on CaB and BaT have come back down to earth and are in the $7K-$15K range lately. But part of the appeal is the 6MT; the 5AT models go for noticably less considering it doesn't even have an LSD and loses a lot of the "fun-to-drive" factor. Unfortuantely, the TLX Type-S doesn't have a manual and is in the same boat...if it did it'd likely have been an enthusiasts favorite.
I came from an '07 TL Type-S, and saw what they were going for many years later. It's honestly no surprise that prices came down to earth when they did - I mean, they were 15 years old at that point. And if we're being honest, for every one person who wants a 6MT, there are a dozen who don't. I can't be asked to deal with a manual in today's traffic, which is why I moved away from them years ago. I don't think this has hurt modern TLX sales at all, either.

My question if it was your dream car, why didn't you consider a used TLX-S? I am sure there was a handful of used TLX-S models within a 150 mile radius of you that you could snag for a great deal.
Idk I guess you have to have it new?

The only one that would be worth over $10k is the one individual I came across that was selling his recently deceased Dad's 2008 TL Type-S that had only 30k miles on it. That was a Year and a half ago. I wanted a TL Type-S to compliment my TLX-S buuut prices was crazy and made no sense so I ended up in a BMW E38 7 Series instead
