TPMS Messages
TPMS Messages
I put on snows on new rims last weekend and didn't buy a set of TPMS sensors for them. In Canada it isn't mandatory. It has taken a week but the car today recognized that there were no sensors. I get 5 AcurLink messages each time I start the car. I have to clear 5 warning on the main screen and then clear five AcuraLink messages. This is more than a little annoying. I may have to go out and buy the sensors and have them installed on my rims (assuming they will fit the rims).
new acura's will need their respective TPMS.
older generations, you could mix and match TPMS and no ill effects.
get the TLX TPMS and if it doesnt fit on your snow rims, you'll need to wrap it around the barrel

You will definitely need to install some TMPS sensors. An alternative to the "wrap around the barrel" is the use of an additional o-ring rubber washer on the inside of the stem. My Acura service department did not have either of these items and were not familiar with them when winter tires were mounted on my after market wheels. You may need to go to an tire shop to get them properly fitted.
So Markham Acura is quoting me $55 per sensor and $125 to mount them on my existing rims. I gather they will not know until they take the tires off the rims whether the sensors will mount on the rims or not. These wheels are a few years old so I have no idea whether the sensor will fit or not. I have ordered the sensors and may go to Consumers Tire to see if they could mount them.
Quandry you are in Thornhill and I am in Don Mills. Where did you get them properly mounted? I might just go there. Thanks
