VCM vibration '15 vs '16

My 2015 TLX v6 is in the shop again getting the latest transmission update and a new AC evaporator, hopefully to get rid of the mold smell I have been having with the AC.
They gave me a 2016 v6 loaner. Transmission drives like mine, no change. What I did notice is that there is almost no VCM vibration. I really had to focus to even feel it kicking in. With my 2015 it's really obvious, I feel it kick in and out all the way to 60 mph. Are all the 15s like this or is there yet another thing that is wrong with my car? Did they smooth out the VCM on the 2016's?

My 2015 is exactly like yours. I can feel the VCM kick on and off up to about 60. I haven't taken it in yet because the nearest dealer is 2 hours away from me. I am hoping maybe it is just the engine mounts need replaced. I have not driven a 2016 to compare.

Can you describe the feeling, does it feel like a hard downshift?

I usually feel a small knock in the wheel and a small vibration. It vibrates enough that it's very obvious to me when it is on 3 cylinders...especially when it kicks in and out.

I think that's what I experience to but it feels like a hard down shift to me and some small hint of vibration. I know ktuner and hondata has the capabilities to disable this. But just have to wait for it to come out, I will get rid of this headache of a car and get me something that has no issues.

Before I bought the TLX I had a deposit on a 2013 Audi A6, but backed out because of fear of reliability issues. Since September my TLX has needed a new wheel bearing, transmission and now an ac evaporator. Yikes

I hear yah, tranny problems, vibrations the Acura brand has gone done even with the build with cheap materials and cutting corners. ZF must of gave them a heck of a discount to use the 9speed and since Honda is so big they probably said let the people deal with It. I'm going honestly send this car back and have them buy it out and get into something different.

Just got my 2016 last week. I have no idea when VCM kicks in on the highway. I don't feel a thing. SH-AWD advance package here.

Is the vibration the same as wheel shaking when you are departing a lane?

I have a 2016, I can only feel it if I specifically hone in on trying to feel it. I can't tell when it engages or disengages precisely at all. It's a very very VERY low amplitude, high frequency vibe. In fact, the amplitude is so low that simply turning up my stereo to 15 or so causes more cabin vibration from the bass in the speakers than the VCM.

Update: They replaced the front motor mount, which was apparently defective. Much smoother. VCM vibrations practically non existent now...

A vibration through the steering wheel. Not bad, but noticeable enough for me to know exactly when the vcm was kicking in at all times.

Wow! first I've heard of this. I've been reading about this problem and have been baffled as to why a great engineering company like Honda hasn't fixed it.

Since they can't/won't fix it, why don't most folks have this thing?

Maybe because most people don't have the problem in the first place. Remember, what you see on forums like this are the problems people are having. People with no problems tend not to say anything.

Couldn't agree more. Just wondering why I hadn't heard of this vcmuzzler before (for those always talking about this issue). Maybe it's no big deal.

In any case, all of my four cylinders seem to work

I don't know if it's the same problem but mine vibrates at about 1500 rpm and when I step on the gas it goes away so when I got my first oil change I asked service about it and was told that it was not a problem that it was normal because I had it in sport which is BS I it happens in all modes so I have to take it back mine is 2015 with 4900 miles so them the car is normal but it's starting to do it more now
