Tinted windows experience on TLX
Hi Guys,
I thought I share this with the forum. I recently for the car tinted, all around including the front and rear windshield, + all the side windows with Llumar Air 80. Amazing tint, loves the color and the heat rejection. I was in San Diego during thanksgiving (80F !!) and I can feel the car is much cooler after few hours parked on the street.
Anyhow, beware that I do get annoying "rainbow" effect in the front windshield when I have polarized sunglasses on. My wife claimed she can see the rainbow with bare eyes (with contacts).
As for the rear, apparently the TLX defroster line is quite thick and I do see the annoying light reflection on the defroster line at night.
If you google around, you will find a lot of posting on the 2 problems. My understanding from reading (a lot) of the forums is the problem is more got to do with the car than the type/quality of the tint/workmanship.
Well, after 2-3 weeks, I decided I couldn't live with it and got the front and rear tint removed. Oh well, lesson learned.
The tint shop was kind enough to remove the tint for free and even give me a partial refund! Amazing customer service.

Not sure of your brand names, but I love my tinted windows in South Florida. I got 35 on the sides and 15 in the back. Temps inside are a lot cooler. Never noticed any rainbows.
p.s. I see you are referring to windshield tint. I forgot about that. I have never tinted my front windows. Just learned you could last month.

I didn't try a different pair since the wife complaining about the rainbow effect even without glasses.

Technically its illegal in CA but i got a 80% tint, its very light as tint goes. Most likely I will get away with it ( at least that's the hope). Yeah, temp is a lot cooler.
i get the rainbows but ONLY with polarized tinted lens. and thats on all cars.
never bothered me with any other glasses. i just got some new ones with regular tint lens not polarized and rainbows go away.
i have the suntek tint.

Same here (In Cali). I tinted the front window as well. I did 70% 3M Crystalline on the front and 40% all around. The car was significantly cooler with the front window tinted. I had the same product in my 2013 Accord minus the front window and the difference is noticeable.

i just had the 3m Crystalline installed. CR 40 all around except the windshield which I had done with CR90.
Front windshield will be removed. Too much halo / diffusion of lights (brake lights, traffic signals, headlights. Day or night.
Rear windshield will remain, but there is a "Venetian blind" effect of lights.

Illegal to tint the windshield in TX, but I have 35% on the side and rear windows. Don't even know the brand, as my dealer tints all their cars the same.
Anyway, no rainbows with mine, and I wear polarized sg's.

My salesman has 20% on the sides and drives with his windows down during the day when he sees a cop and needs to at night to be able to drive. I went with 35%.
