seafoam/crc intake valves cleaner
seafoam/crc intake valves cleaner
Has anyone run either those for the 2.4 engine? Any real benefit or bad things about it? My car just past 115k miles and gas mileage is down to avg 21mpg and at least 1.5qt of burned oil every 5k miles. I just wondering has anyone run those product and see if it benefit at all or waste of money? TIA!
Has the oil consumption gotten worse as you've had the car?
Intake cleaners are OK, some do clean and many simply make your wallet lighter. If there is a significant amount of carbon, most OTC products do not do much. If the valves are really dirty, I know the BMW folks use walnut blasting to clean them up to brand new. Physical cleaning is really the best way to clean unless you want to take out the spark plugs and try soaking the valves and pistons in cleaner.

Thanks csmeanace. I know those otc product wont be completely cleaning those gunk out, but I was trying to see if they can help reduce/remove a bit of it or even worth it to give it a try. I don't think I'll have it completely clean unless it is getting too much, which I dont really know how to tell from it lol. Yes, the oil and gas mileage are getting worst now than before.
