Rattling noise around the dashboard?

Hi everyone,

Few months ago I started to notice a subtle rattling noise that seems to be coming from the dashboard area. I can't quite pinpoint the exact location and I can only hear it when I drive over a bump/bumpy road. I had my dealership took a look before but they just brushed it off and said it was probably due to temperature change and the material is expanding and contracting. Anyone experiencing anything similar? I'd like to get this fixed as the rattling noise is becoming more consistent when I go over a bump.

Thanks!

My Advance made two noises on the freeway. One sounded like pop-corn popping only lower in frequency. The other sounded like metal fluttering. The Acura technician found a loose heat shield beneath the car and fixed both noises.

Mines not really a pop-corn popping noise. I wouldn't really say its a rattle either. It just sounds like something may be slightly loose. I can't determine where the noise is coming from exactly but it seems like it's around the dashboard area. Sometimes I hear a similar noise around the passenger seat belt area as well.

Many people have complained about the passenger seat belt rattle. I don't have it, but my recollection is that you can just move (bend?) the mount a bit to alleviate it.

I had this issue on my 2015 Advance. Mine was in the plastic piece under the Navi screen, and on certain roads it was annoying. I no longer have the issue... The fix? 2016 Lexus ES 350 :-)

Check your sunglass holder, too. If the glasses rattle a little the sound location is not obvious.

Regarding the "popping corn" and fluttering freeway sounds. I thought they were coming from the roof. My wife thought they were coming from the front hood. As I wrote earlier, the actual culprit was the heat shield beneath the cabin.

I have the same rattling noise coming from around my navigation screen - I assume it's a loose wire or something simple. Unfortunately the rattle is very random (sometimes only starts 30 minutes into my drive) and I have not been able to reproduce it with the dealer (they don't want to do anything unless they hear it in a test drive). I might open up the dash myself at some point and try to secure all loose parts...

I think that others on this board have opened things up already (e.g. for Navtool and smartphone integration) - does anyone have a step-by-step description of how to open it up the center console/dash (or some sort of diagram of how it's assembled)?

I had a service appointment last week and finally managed to reproduce the rattles with the technician on a short road test. The technician took apart the center console and wrapped the wires in foam tape... no more rattles (for now).

I had metal noises, came from the sun roof, took them two times to finally rid the sound. Now, they are fixing the rear deck rattle.

I'm having the same "popcorn" "water boiling" sound at my driver A pillar.

Only happens when my car is in Drive at a complete stop. When the car starts rolling it goes away. Then when i stop it comes back.

My car is at the dealer being looked at right now. Any ideas?

Oddly enough, it seems Vlke took a completely different approach to fixing his rattle problem. He bought an Audi A4. lol.

LOL.. the best kind of fix. I gave them a year to fix my problems and there's still a hand full of items aside from the rattling that wasn't fixed. The transmission itself took 11 months and many many calls to fix. I spoke with the service manager, general manager, ACR, senior case manager and field rep multiple times, and posted on their social media sites to fix an obvious problem. So yah.. I'm kinda done with them lol.

Mine had this as well. The noise was not from the TSB 15-042.

It definitely is behind the nav screen area.
