Poor FM Radio Reception?

Anyone else experiencing this in their TLX? Stations that have come in clearly in every other car I've owned now have static in certain areas and become out-of-range more quickly when driving out of the area. Despite all of the connectivity in the car I still use the radio most so this is not acceptable to me.

I agree. The FM radio reception in this car is the worst of any I've bought new since 1995. The FM lacks clarity and is full of static (and I don't think multipath interference is to blame in this case).

I haven't traveled far enough from Houston to see whether stations fade earlier than in my previous cars I've had while living here (Audi A4, BMW 535i, Mazda3), but I wouldn't be surprised if I lose all local stations well before Huntsville on my next trip up I-45.

I think Acura should have included HD radio with the base TLX, though I seem to recall another recent thread complaining about constant switching between HD and analog (which, yeah, that's super-annoying).

Now that you mention it, I will have to listen to FM on my next drive into work. My drive covers two counties (34 miles). I have been listening using the other various ways to listen to music in the TLX. I haven't really tried FM and AM. Other modes are excellent quality, even Pandora.

FM sounds ok for me here in Sac.
But those stations I'm listening to seemed to be tuned to HD automatically. Not sure if there is a way I can turn off HD to test this.

Compared my TLX last night with my wife's car on an FM analog channel and either the TLX radio or the antenna is a little weaker and a little static.
Add another one to the bug fix list...

My FM seems good, but it's my AM that has crappy reception, when it was fine in my 3G TL. Need to have service take a look.

I finally got around to trying FM Radio today. I usually sit in XM. I made a few presets and began a check of local radio stations. My FM stations come in clear. I do drive in the city and the stations are in the same county.

Wow. First time I have listened to FM in ten years. HD radio is cool. Never had that before. Too bad commercials are still around. Even on vacation, the rentals have XM.

I do like the other options like USB, BT, HDD and Pandora. Wow! AM is still around. Haven't used AM in 20 years.

FM is a good fallback. It seems to work fine on my car. Could your tint be interfering with your FM antenna? Or maybe the FM antenna is disconnected? Got luck. Take it in to the dealer and complain.

My other half and I have started listening to a new FM station locally. Her Kia has reception problems with it. So far the Acura does not. But the actual quality is still crap - analogue FM can sound first rate, but very rarely in North America - too much compression. But in theory it offers frequencies up to 15khz (higher than many adults can hear), over 50 db separation and well over that signal to noise. When I go to UK and rent a car I can instantly hear on BBC stations how much better it is. Germany the same. Then again XM isnt really any better. Though streaming audio often is.

I have a Acura MDX SH AWD 2016 and the FM and AM reception is horrible! I used to own a Honda Pilot 2011 and was able to get all the Local Radio stations now i can't! I live in the Houston Area also. Please let us know if you find out why and how to fix it!

Same here, FM reception is poor in the TLX. Have a station that is clear in the other two cars and all previous cars but the TLX can't tune it in at all. Not to say other stations don't come in but it definitely is sub par as far as it's range goes.
