passenger door unlock???

Hi guys, just noticed this yesterday, not sure if this is the way it design or something is wrong. After engine is started, with only driver door is unlock, I cannot open the passenger door from the outside by either grabbing the door handle or remote control. The only way to unlock is walk over to the driver side and unlock from the main control switch. Is this normal?

Only thing I can think of is that you have the childproof locks engaged
Go to the main control switch and make sure it's NOT depressed
Other than that, go to an Acura service advisor

Check your "Vehicle Settings --> Door Unlock" settings. It can be set to unlock only the driver door or all doors.

Thanks for the replies guys, but it not childproof lock since this is for front door or the door lock setting (at least I dont think). It only happened if the engine is already started. I can unlock the front passenger door either by grabbing the door handle, press the button on the door or by the remote control if the engine is OFF. I just want to double check with you guys to see if this is normal or not before bringing in the car. Kinda lazy to go with all the traffic and all lol

If you have a key,the passenger door will open if you grab the outside handle--because you have the key on you. If other people try to open it, it remains locked unless you press the unlock button on the inside driver door. You can set the car, as noted above, to unlock just the driver door or all 4 when the outside handle is grabbed. If you opened the driver door and got in, even started the car, the other doors are locked unless you change the setting (in the manual). It's a safety feature so someone can't jump in your car after you open your door--but you can change it.

I tried it on my car and it worked as you described. I could not open the other doors but I could open the trunk. I was able to unlock the doors with the main switch and with the key. The manual does say that you can only lock and unlock the doors with the remote "when the power mode is in VEHICLE OFF. Sounds like it is working as designed.

Darn, I need to learn how to read the manual carefully lol. Thank you all for the info. I try to avoid taking it to the dealership, usually come back with another issue. I brought my car in for lkas and ldw check, and now my tranny is acting up more than usual =( With this door lock is normal, it is one less problem I need to worry.

If you use Remote Start and just walk up to the car and grab the handle it only opens the drivers door regardless of how you set the fob to work. If you unlock the car with the fob it will unlock per your settings. Kind of annoying, but one is using the fob to unlock the car and the other is not using the fob.

Kinda annoying if I can't even unlock the rest of the door with the remote once the engine is started. Not that I need to do it all the time, but I'm sure every now and then in the future, I have to run back to the driver side and unlock lol.

I can't. Once the engine is started, I can only unlock all doors using the master switch on the driver side.

Setting the "unlock all doors" is a separate task for both the door handles and the key fob. Try setting the key fob to unlock all 4 and see if that works.

I will look further into this. Currently, the setting is, on the key fob, press once will unlock driver door. Press twice will unlock all doors. Will update once I'm off work.

do you have the remote start option? Are you using it? This might be causing "issues" as it contains many security features to prevent theft.

I think this is what he is talking about. If you have remote started the car when you grab the handle it only opens the drivers door. Probably to prevent someone from jumping in the passenger side while the car is running. If I want to unlock the passenger side I just hit the unlock button on the drivers console. If you use the fob while the car is not remote started it will unlock all the doors if the settings are set that way.

No, I do not have remote starter on my car. I looked at some of the setting, didn't look at the manual yet, and I didn't see any specific setting regarding this. All I found is either press once to unlock one or all doors. I got to dig deeper into this, but hopefully what daninthevalley mentioned is correct lol.

I believe you need to look in the manual under the key fob--a combo of buttons on the fob is how you change its setting, not on the settings screens.
