no wonder Acura stopped making manuals.

the only time i use the handbrakes is when i park my car, or an idiot automatic tranny driver is following so damn close on a incline. even though i let the car roll back a few inches to warn people, these people give me no space to work with.

its like tailgating me on a steep hill is going to save them a few minutes.

Needle in a hay stack is right. I imagine it would take a while to check all the connections and sensors in these cars. With all the potential electronic problems in cars these days I'm surprised more aren't sitting on the side of the road waiting for a tow.

Oh please. This is a luxury, tech sedan, not a Miata.

It took me over 80 minutes to drive the 20 miles home the other day, and 2 hrs to go 50 miles and see my in-laws over the holiday due to traffic.

I didn't need my climate controlled leather interior, auto wipers, ELS bluetooth audio with smart phone connectivity, LED headlights, auto dimming side view mirrors, or the host of other features the TLX has.

Those features and the brake hold weren't necessary, but they were sure nice to have, especially after a long, trying day at work. I could have been in my RS giving the clutch a good work out, but it actually makes me sad/angry to be stuck in traffic with it, and I was much happier in the TLX for those commutes.

Different strokes for different folks, and I don't know what traffic is like near you, but it's brutal around here. The world is a lot bigger than what you can see outside your front window.

Says the guy going out of his way to come to the TLX forum to whine that it has too much tech, and no clutch (which wouldn't suit this car really)....are you having a glass of red, or white?

...In a thread about how a brand new car with all that tech left the owner stranded with only 23 miles on the ODO.

...and is it really tech, or is it a gimmick? The parking brake is just asinine. It wasn't broke, why fix it? I didn't know the TLX had such gimmicks until I saw this thread, and it seems relevant to the OP's issue.

My gripes are in general. I appreciate good advances in auto engineering. Maybe you appreciate cruise control.. I think I hit the button once and it annoyed the shit out of me. I'm not a fan of DBW and EPS or tech that's a justification to a non-existent problem. A change that resulted in 0.2 mpg, but stranded the customer, so worth it.

The more moving parts, the more things there are to control, the more areas for failure. It's an old-school mentality, but it's true. If your climate controlled seats go whacky, you may burn or freeze your balls. If your electric steering column locks up or throttle input suddenly fails and pulls high, you better hope there's enough tech to save your ass as well. This brake assist / parking brake cluster might have simple controls, but it's a linkage controlled by several additional inputs that weren't required before.

Regarding traffic, I moved from the #2 to #3 worst-traffic city in the US, so you can say I'm moving up. Although you might be thinking.. could be worse.. the avg number of hours wasted by an avg commuter in the #1 city is +60 hrs. My commute is 4x that (and that's usually parking lot traffic, not 25 mph congestion). Not to mention all the special event traffic that happens here.. I probably spend close to 400 hrs in traffic a year.

I prefer a brie pannini with prairie wine barrel noir.

OP sorry to hear especially with new model and the miles you have. Hope it all works out for you whatever the solution is.

You pointed out what I have been saying all along, that personal preferences are just that. Your opinion on what is good has no more, or less validity than anyone else's. I can't honestly tell you if cruise even worked on my previous cars. I don't care for it, even on long interstate drives. That doesn't mean I don't see the need for it for other people.

You dismissed something you read about, but never even tried. I read about autowipers, and thought they were pointless too. Having them on a few cars now, I would miss not having them. Good or useless would depend on who you ask. Necessary? No; just fluff, but they work, and I like them.

The brake hold feature, and lack of a manual have nothing to do with the OP's issues. If you would like to continue writing about the overabundance of tech, and lack of a m/t in the bread, and butter sedans actually competing in a class where luxury, and tech help sell cars, take it to car talk.

I never brought up a manual trans, not sure why you keep bringing it up.
