Anyone experiencing plug pop?
Anyone experiencing plug pop?
Have new issue that began recently. Currently at 5 months and 4K miles.
We have all noticed that cabin noise insulation and door sealing on the TLX is very good. But have you noticed cabin air pressure relief vents have been eliminated from the door jams where they have been located on most cars for years?
Apparently those vents have now been replaced with one "plug", ie: vent gate, door, valve, or whatever you want to call it that is located under the body near the rear wheels.
My vent plug is now creating a loud rubbery sounding "whomp" about one second after closing a door (with all other doors closed). In my case, one driver opening and closing one door at a time, front or back. Very noticeable when closing door from outside car but still very audible when closing door from inside car.
Happens most every time last door is closed and louder when front of car is headed nose down on slightest grade.
It's on the list for next service visit, not a safety issue but another very idiosyncratic annoyance. Isolated case or across the board?

I think I close my doors too slow, the humidity is high and I am nearly at sea level.

I just remembered the first time I rode in a Volvo in Europe. I was in the back seat and two passengers closed their doors at the same time. My ear drums hurt momentarily due to the pressure increase. I never had experienced that issue again.
Wow! What an interesting problem you found.
