Anyone else have jerky cruise control?

At low-to-moderate speeds (35-45mph), with the cruise engaged and in gently rolling terrain, my car lurches and jerks as the throttle comes and goes to maintain speed - especially noticeable on downhill slopes.

The cruise control is supposed to maintain speed in a smooth manner, but mine doesn't do that. Anyone else notice this?

I won't say that it's jerky, but I do feel that sometimes the car is trying to do everything it can to maintain the set speed. When going downhill I do sometimes feel the car try to do some engine braking or some type of slowing to maintain the speed vs. allowing the car to coast.

I love and use the ACC all the time and occasionally it will "freak out" a bit if someone makes a sudden turn or swerves into my lane, but mostly it's very smooth.

Thanks, Hoosier. I don't have the ACC - just the regular cruise. But between the wife and me, we've had probably a dozen Acuras, and they've always maintained the speed well. Sure, they'll lose a mph or two on an incline, but this is a surging, on-off thing that's really annoying.

I'm going to see if the dealer has any ideas.

Definitely check with the dealer. I don't usually use cruise control at lower speeds, but I went ahead and tried it out today on the way home from work. It was as smooth as I expected, no surges in power or anything except up steep inclines when it had to downshift. Even then, though, it kept it in that lower gear until I got onto more level ground, so it wasn't bothersome. It also appeared to have a ~2-3 mph buffer where it wouldn't engage engine braking or downshift to maintain speed, so I'd imagine rolling terrain wouldn't be a problem normally.

No problem here, and I've used it many times in the 40 to 55 mph range to avoid getting a ticket.

Mostly level ground, but it's been very smooth.

Thanks, guys. I left it at the dealer this morning to check on the cruise and the hard shift from 2nd to 3rd. I have a sneaking suspicion the two issues are related.

No issues with cruise control, but I do live in a flat state.

I've used cruise control a lot on pretty deserted freeways and interstates and can't say I've noticed that problem. But then, I don't think I've hit cruise control at those speeds, either, so who knows.

I had a jerky CC issue with a 2008 TSX 6sp and it ended up being the APP sensor - Accelerator Pedal Position.

Thanks, Miner. I'll keep that in mind next time I'm in for service.
