2016 Acura TLX Transmission issues
2016 Acura TLX Transmission issues
1 month ago I hopped into my car and every single light on the dash was on (admissions light, transmission light, VSA light, and some light that looked like a steering wheel). The car wouldn’t shift out of park so i turned it off and tried again a hour later and it worked just fine no issues at all. Two days after the same problem happened this time it wouldn’t get out of park at all. I got it towed to a dealership where the told me it was “shift solenoid valve C” (P0979) and that i would need a new transmission. I told them i wasn’t going to pay that so I went there to get my car and i wheeled off the lot and called a tow. When the tow guy arrived he turned on my car and it shifted into drive and i drove it the whole way home which was an hour drive. Afterwards I took it to someone who specializes in transmission repairs and they called me today and told me theres no pressure in the transmission which is whats causing the solenoid code to pop up and that i’m probably looking at getting a new transmission. I need help because i dont know how i was able to drive this car twice after all of this happened and if the transmission needs to be replaced to bad. I just need some kind of insight please.
This happened to me with my 2015 TLX V6 Advance with 105,000 miles. Several lights were showing and the car would not shift out of park. After about 10 tries of restarting it finally shifted into drive but it did not shift quite right.
Acura inspected and found that the Pressure switch solenoid was bad and needed new trans. Acura installed a used trans with 52K miles covered by a 3rd party warranty co. The cost without the warranty would have been approximately $6,000.
All was great until the car was totaled at 110,000 Miles.
I purchased another 2015 TLX V6 Tech. I was very fortunate with this car as the recall for the connecting rod bearing was performed and Acura ended up replacing the Engine (long block) before purchase.
Good Luck.

I would think that a bad solenoid could be replaced. If Acura won't considered doing a repair, bring it to a Transmission specialist and see if they can help. I would have looked at other options for my car if I did not have a warranty.
