TLX Front Speaker Replacement

TLX Front Speaker Replacement
Hi,
Considering Front 6.5 inch speaker replacement. Please share TLX DIY experience in door panel removal, pictures of speaker/mount area and other helpful info in swapping out the stock speakers for aftermarket speakers.
Please keep the thread on task about replacing the front speakers. There are some very helpful front door speaker DIY on the TL threads with pictures on door panel removal, debates on upgrades etc, would like that level of info here for TLX.
IMO even after making improvement tweaks with the ANC settings, etc and extensive listening I still find the sound too thin in the midrange and think the best bang for buck would be to start with the front door 6.5's and see if there is improvement before going after back 6.5s and possible amp upgrade. I am not a "thumper" and think the sub is ok for me but feel the right 6.5s could provide more mid-range richness. Definitely not looking for more treble in this system.

Do you have the ELS sound system? If so, and you replace any of the speakers, you may find that the sound might be even worse--since ELS tunes/equalizes all of the car's speakers to their specifications.

Yes It is ELS and have done sound tuning with turning ANC off etc that there are numerous threads on. There are similar threads available for the previous gen TL's that gave diy's on getting door panels off, replacement experiences, speaker recommendations etc. This thread is for anyone wanting to do that on TLX and knowledge share. Any aftermarket replacement of factory installs are not the easiest plug and play and carry risk, and that should be assumed for anyone willing to tweak and share knowledge.

ELS typically uses 2ohm speakers so unless you want to also fit a new amp, stick with 2 ohm replacement speakers. A lot of folks like infinity speakers.
The TLX in my opinion lacks "midbass" and I'm not sure if it's a speaker issue or equalization issue. I don't own one so I can't experiment.
In any case, new tweeters and midbass speakers in the doors would offer an improvement, I'm not sure if it'll give exactly what you want though.
