Radar Detector

I just got a 2016 TLX to replace my 2006 TL. In the TL, I mounted a radar detector high on the windshield, behind the mirror, and ran the power cord to the connector for the moon roof. All I had to do was pop our the lenses and remove a cover to get access. Naturally, I want to do the same thing on the new car but can't see an obvious way to get access. I don't want to take a chance on breaking any plastic but there must be a way to get at the switches for the interior lights and the moon roof.

Has anybody else done the same thing?

Thanks,

Ranger

Hey Ranger! if you cant access the Mirror, try routing the cable down the A-pillar and use an ADD-A-FUSE and connect it to one of the fuses in the kick panel fuse box.

that's how I do it, instead of splicing in the mirror.

I have always done it this way too...routing down the A pillar...
but on my recent car I tried the mirror tap and MAN it is clean having it all there at the mirror.

If it was put together, it can be taken apart! There has to be a cover to remove.

looks like the mirror might not be an option though

Radar Detector

Thanks for the responses. I gave up on trying to figure out how to access the overhead console and routed the cord to the fuse box with a tap ordered from Amazon. Easy peasey and perfectly neat,
Thanks,

ranger

Hi Ranger, can you share the link for the tap and cord you ordered from Amazon?

I recommend that you look here to see the tap and where to connect it . This info describes the process well . Anyone hard wire a radar detector yet? - Page 2 - Acura TLX Forum
Further, I recommend that you discard the fuses that come with the tap as they are low quality. Use the spare fuses that come with the Acura..
